A brain tumour diagnosis is like an iceberg. It presents a myriad of challenges, many of which are invisible to others. While some people with brain tumours may appear fine, they often face lasting difficulties that significantly impact their daily lives.
Cognitive challenges can include memory problems, difficulty concentrating, and issues with comprehension.
Speech and communication difficulties can make conversations frustrating.
Fatigue is also common, leading to long-term exhaustion, not always relieved by rest.
Mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and personality changes, can further complicate daily life as well as relationships with friends and loved ones.
Physical challenges, though not always obvious, can be just as debilitating. A brain tumour can cause problems with balance, dizziness, and walking, increasing the chance of falls.
Seizures are a common risk.
Chronic pain can be a persistent struggle.
Despite the extent of these challenges, the severity of a person’s condition often goes unrecognised, and that in itself leads to feelings of isolation and frustration.
You are not alone.
