Yoga for Trauma Recovery-Joanne Varni Yoga for Empowerment™ is a philosophy developed by Joanne Varni. Yoga for Empowerment reflects what life has to offer with all of it’s challenges and triumphs.

She had a visual of the lotus flower, which, like us, has to work it’s way through the “muddy” waters in order to blossom into it’s true essence. It is the intention of Joanne, through yoga, to guide people on their personal healing journey and to empower them. Joanne has used yoga as a source of healing for herself, including restorative and therapeutic asanas, breathwork, and meditation. Joanne’s philosophy as a yoga teacher is to help people who seek personal empowerment, to find space and be more connected to their body and mind, and to find balance as we forge through the ever-present chaos and stress of everyday life. By becoming present through all aspects of yoga, we can become calmer, think clearer, become more caring and compassionate, and are better able to confront challenges. I would like to thank Weber arctic, travel yogi and breathe together yoga for another epic yoga excursion. I was able to visit Antarctica earlier in the year so my expectations were high. This trip was so different, yet, equally incredible. My ten year old self is in awe and humbled at, not only the possibility of such adventures, but the accessibility as well. Challenging hikes, kayaking, atv rides, and helicopter rides! As always, only the best people show up for such adventures! I’m lucky to share memories of a lifetime with each of you. Enjoy the pictures, many of which I owe photo credit. If you’re in awe of the photos shown here it’s likely taken by

Next up is my Trauma energetics 15-hour immersion that I’ll be leading over the weekend of May 30-June 1, 2025. I believe that the magic (true awareness and healing) happens at the energetic level. There are many ways to work with our energy systems. We will experience simple, yet powerful practices. The process can help release stress, balance the nervous system, enhance brain function, and cultivate a sense of calm and joy in one’s life. This is a collaboration of many techniques, so you won’t want to miss it. All levels of experience are welcome. To learn more about this immersion or sign up, go to my linktree.

I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes while I was gone and off of the grid. I spent over two weeks in South America and visiting Antarctica. My 10 year old self would have never thought that visiting the white continent was even remotely possible. It would be like my kids contemplating the possibility of visiting the moon (although that may be entirely possible in their lifetime!). It is beautiful and unique and exceeded my expectations. That being said, being flexible with expectations is a must on a trip like this. As we learned, the continent reveals what it wants to, when it wants to. We were fortunate to see so much, which is not always the case. I was able to share this trip with my son Steven, and adventurer in his own right, which made it all of the more special.

Highlights include the trip across the Drake (which did not disappoint with swells from 15-30 feet!), a trek up a little mountain with incredible views, kayaking in one of the most beautiful bays I have ever seen, and the constant beauty and incredible animal sitings that seemed to be everywhere. Being so close to the animals of Antarctica is something that I’ll always cherish. And my new favorite animal is the penguin. I just love them.

Some of the amazing photos I’m sharing are from a great photographer and lovely human being who was on the trip. Shout out to

Our Story

Yoga for Trauma Recovery™ is was developed by Joanne Varni and Rebekah Tayebi. The Yoga for Trauma Recovery offerings invite people to begin self inquiry around their life’s challenges offering accessible tools that anyone can use. It is the intention of the program to guide people on their own personal journey using the modalities of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and energetic practices to empower them and assist in their healing. Joanne and Rebekah have used yoga as a source of their own healing and continue to use these practices.. Joanne’s philosophy as a yoga teacher is to help people who seek personal empowerment, to find space and be more connected to their body and mind, and to find balance as we forge through the ever-present chaos and stress of everyday life. By becoming present through all aspects of yoga, we can become calmer, think clearer, become more caring and compassionate, and are more resilient when confronting challenges.
