This can be a tough time of year for us mid-westerners as we continue to have few hours of sunlight, more cold, and sometimes feel an overall emotional funk this time of year. Take a little time when you can to do something that engages your senses and helps you enjoy these moments.

Make a cup of tea and feel the warmth in your hands as you hold the mug, breathe in the scent and feel the warm air travel through your nasal passages and down into your lungs. Notice the taste and sensations of the warm liquid as it flows down your throat and into your stomach.

Check out the sunset (even though it comes early). Apparently winter sunsets are the best.

These are dark days. At least it’s peak sunset season.

Today is the perfect day to go outside and be present. The sun is shining, the leaves are beautiful, and autumn is all around. Breathe it in and enjoy the moment.

Rough winds did shake my darling buds of May.

Take a minute or two to step outside and notice your surroundings. Smell the air. Listen for birds and other creatures. Look around you at some of the plants and flowers that are only in bloom for a short time. Feel the breeze on your skin.Take a deep belly breath in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Be present in the moment and notice what the world has to offer your senses today.

Breathe in through your nose (deep belly breath) for 4 seconds
1-2-3-4
Now breathe out with your lips pursed (like you are blowing out a candle) for 8 seconds
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
Now do that again
And one more time

A big thanks to those of you who joined us this past weekend for our Whole Body Wellness Daylong Retreat. It was a wonderful day and we enjoyed spending every minute with you! Tomorrow is the day! We have a couple spots left if anyone would like to make the transition from spring break to real life a little smoother by giving yourself a day of wellness, relaxation, and tools to fight the daily stress of life.

Thanks to you who have already registered for the retreat on 3/31! We are looking forward to spending a wonderful day with all of you. We will continue taking on-line registrations through Eventbrite or email and will welcome drop-ins up until the day of the retreat as long as there are slots still available (payments can be made via Square at the event for last minute drop-ins).
