Today, we are honored to recognize an incredible team of professionals with the Coin of Excellence.
This award goes to Robert Tracey, Megan Haukaas, and Jaime Mills for their outstanding teamwork, innovation, and dedication during a recent high-acuity pediatric transport.
The mission involved a pediatric patient in Tucson who was dependent on both a ventilator and inhaled nitric oxide therapy—something our adult teams are currently unable to support due to aircraft limitations. Despite reaching out to multiple other air medical providers, only our team had the expertise, adaptability, and determination to say yes.
Robert and Megan from AE24 immediately stepped up, loading Megan’s personal vehicle with the necessary medical equipment and making the drive to Banner Tucson. At the same time, Jaime from AE1 drove with the specialized INO equipment to meet them there.
Once united, the team assumed care of the critically ill patient and successfully transported them by ground ambulance to Phoenix Children’s Hospital—ensuring the patient’s life-sustaining therapy remained uninterrupted throughout the entire journey.
And they didn’t stop there. After safely delivering the patient, they made sure Jaime returned to AE1, and then Robert and Megan traveled back to Tucson to retrieve their vehicle. From there, Megan went directly on to Sierra Vista—jumping into preparation for another neonatal call with unwavering dedication.
This was far from a standard transport. It required exceptional coordination, clinical excellence, and a relentless commitment to doing what’s best for the patient.
Robert, Megan, and Jaime—your actions embody the very best of who we are. You not only met the challenge, but you did so with compassion, professionalism, and excellence.
Please join me in congratulating Robert Tracey, Megan Haukaas, and Jaime Mills as recipients of the Coin of Excellence.
