ICO NORA Student Club We are the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA) Student Club at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL.

WHO WE ARE

Established in 2012, the NORA Student Club is open to ICO students who wish to learn more about the assessment and treatment of those suffering from visual and perceptual dysfunction as a result of acquired head trauma, brain tumors, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological injuries. WHAT WE DO

The NORA Student Club hosts several events year round, often in conjunction with

other student clubs such as COVD and SLICE. Some of these events include guest speakers from NORA, research presentations by ICO faculty members, practice visits in the Chicago area, lunch and learns, clinical skills workshops, residency prep, and fundraisers. Members also attend the annual NORA Interdisciplinary Meeting where students have the opportunity to participate in continuing education courses, meet NORA student members from other optometry schools, and network with optometrists, vision therapists, neuropsychologists, OTs, PTs, chiropractors, industry leaders, and other members of the growing NORA community.

Hi all, Dr. Messner requested I pass this email along!

Be sure to sign up if you can!

Hi,

As member of the Academy’s Fellows Doing Research SIG steering committee, I am writing you to see if you can assist me in getting ICO student volunteers for the AAO Exhibit Hall Research Booth. This year’s research project will be an evaluation of inversion therapy manipulation on optic nerve perfusion. The purpose of the research booth is to engender research interest among Academy members, students and residents. Last year’s project was an evaluation of dynamic pupillography as a function of individuals with a prior history of concussion/TBI. Over three days. We tested over 250 subjects.

The following is the link to the sign-up template:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pRr66n6FHhbqM6HKO0Un2DuGi5gMLoC63n7RoEv2dXQ/edit =0

This is a nice way to get involved in clinical research and I would greatly appreciate your helping me in recruiting from NORA (as well as other groups). If at all possible, we are in most need of student volunteers on Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:00.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Best regards.
