Spinal record injury or not, being upright, standing and getting moving in so important.
This is how I start my day, whether I have five minutes or half an hour I endeavour to stand before I sit.
Small Health habits compound!

What does a quadriplegic workout look like?

09/01/2026

We all have constraints, time, money, access, equipment.

Understanding those constraints and working minimise the friction to doing health behaviours is so important for me.

Today, I didn’t have time to get to the gym, but I did have time for a homework workout.
Simple equipment like resistance bands, wrist weights and other adaptive equipment if it’s required such as a standing frame in my case lowers the friction.

Make it easy to do the thing, when it would be easy to make an excuse.

My name is Jack, I have a C5/6 spinal cord injury. I have 15% muscle function, my biceps, Shoulders, and wrists.
Health is the whole body game, not just about the parts that function as normal, but instead about how you look after your whole body.
This year, I want to bring you on my journey of making health foundation everything else is built on.

Hard to believe I am home a week from Washington DC after a fantastic two day cross industry workshop focusing on accessibility and inclusion in the aviation industry hosted by Airbus customer experience team.

It was promising to see representation from 18 airlines and 15 cross industry partners/organisations bringing insights from different forms of transportation and different lived experience of disability with the aim of identifying pain points and innovating solutions to increase accessibility and independence for all in the aviation journey.

From my perspective it was promising to see senior leaders in the industry engaging in the challenges, sharing openly and collaborating constructively towards solutions.

As always, ideas count for a little without implementation.

Thanks to for supporting the aim of enabling an end to end aviation journey for a wheelchair user without leaving their wheelchair.

It’s been a pleasure over the past three years working with the KPMG interns as part of their program.

In our sessions, we aim to increase their awareness of resources they already have (internal and external) and to give them strategies to manage the challenges they will encounter in life and work.

Moment of appreciation for Nicole and Kathryn you are always excellent to deal with and create a great environment for the interns 🙌

48 hours in Brussels at the European Parliament. 🇪🇺

Very insightful trip exploring what is happening (or not happening) to progress equity and inclusion for people with disabilities and those who have been disabled and learning about the legislative/regulatory landscape and how to move the needle forward to make aviation more accessible. 👍

On the first day I had the opportunity to sit in on a committee working on the European Disability and Transport Cards. Ironically I just about made it because we had such difficulty getting a wheelchair accessible taxi from the airport 🛫🚉🚕

While I was there, I had the opportunity to meet some of our Irish MEPs as well as from Sweden and from Greece. All people seeking progress and seeking to represent the diversity of European citizens 🙌

As a point of note Brussels is incredibly inaccessible on the many planes of access. The parliament buildings are excellent, but outside of that is a minefield! ♿️🤷‍♂️

Yesterday was a significant moment. Senior decision makers from across the Aviation industry in one room being educated on the real-world challenges faced by those travelling by air with mobility/accessibility requirements, but more important than that, actively engaging with the issue and working towards collective solutions. Onwards!

A brief excerpt from the article:
Ireland is a leader in so many areas of global aviation that it should take the lead, too, on making planes more accessible to everybody. “We have the real capacity to change things just with people in the room today. We can significantly move the needle,”.

“The essence of what business is, is about innovating and problem solving to meet the needs of customers. Awareness always precedes change. When people are not aware of the real impact a problem has on people, they can’t provide a solution. Today was about explaining the problem, the next step is about solving it.”

Thank you to Irelandia Aviation dec ryan for hosting and Tom Lyons at for profiling the discussion.

Up and at it ♿️➡️🚶‍♂️🏃
Made a small change to the set up today that made a huge difference in my posture and alignment when walking.

Small keys open big doors… 🔑

As with most things in life, we rarely get anywhere alone. With that in mind I’d like to introduce you to Dave who is walking with me in this photo, Ronan, who oversees the program and a big shout out to Matt who walked with me for a long time and is currently pursuing further training in the area. 🙌

Shall Keys Open Big Doors 🔑🚪

Thursday was a day to remember at Pendulum getting the opportunity to share three stories, three insights, and to ask three questions of the audience. A very short snippet of my closing message…

“If you are in the audience, you have privilege.
If you are in the audience, you have access.
If you are in the audience, you have opportunity.
With that comes responsibility.
What small keys do you hold that can open a door for someone else?”

To the audience, thank you for your engagement and feedback.

Some incredible insights and stories told by others over the two days

Back at it, taking steps in the right direction 👍

Whatever it is that you are working on, the small steps add up. Keep showing up 🙏

All the best for the year ahead🙌
