If you’re here, there’s a good chance life doesn’t look the way it used to.

Maybe cancer arrived without warning.
Maybe treatment pushed your body into menopause overnight.

Maybe you’re a mum who’s expected to “be grateful, be strong, and carry on” while inside you feel exhausted, emotional, foggy, disconnected, or not quite like yourself anymore.

I see you.
Because I am you.

👋My name is Emma Grant. I’m an author, early years specialist, qualified hypnotherapist, nutritional therapist and parent coach. For over twenty-two years I’ve supported children and families through my childcare setting, my books and my Mumatherapy work.
But it was my own breast cancer journey, and the sudden, forced menopause that came with it, that reshaped why I do this work.

🎀Mumatherapy is no longer just about managing stress or finding calm in busy motherhood. It’s about supporting mums who are healing after cancer, navigating treatment-induced menopause, and learning how to feel present, grounded and connected again in a body that’s been through a lot.

🤗I’m glad you’re here.
If this resonates with you, you may like to join Calm and Connected a nurturing community where recovery is honoured, menopause is supported, and you are gently guided to relax, restore and reset, at your own pace.
See you inside Em 💕

I came across this powerful article from Marie Claire about how menopause symptoms are affecting women’s careers, including cases where women have lost jobs because of a lack of understanding and support.

This highlights how menopause is shifting from a private health matter to a workplace concern.

It's tough when women are at the top of their game and dealing with hot flashes, brain fog, and anxiety, but they still don't feel comfortable asking for accommodations or support.

This ties into something I’ve been thinking about a lot: how early education and open conversations about menopause, long before symptoms begin, could change the experience for women not just in life, but in work.

Understanding our bodies earlier isn’t just empowering, it could make a tangible difference in careers, confidence and wellbeing.

I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts:
When do you think we should start talking about menopause? And what do workplaces need to do better?

One in 10 women have quit their job because of menopause symptoms – it’s time for employers to step up in the workplace.

🩸Going for blood tests tomorrow and they always struggle to take blood from my left arm these days. My right arm was a blood pumping machine, but since my lymph node clearance, that arm is out of action.

Many of us quietly deal with this, and it can feel stressful before you even arrive but a few simple steps can help your veins cooperate and make the experience easier.

💦The day before your appointment, focus on hydration. Drink water steadily throughout the day rather than all at once. Mild dehydration is one of the most common reasons veins collapse.

Adding a little salt with meals can help the body hold onto fluids, unless you have been advised otherwise.

Gentle movement such as a walk or light stretching supports circulation.

A warm shower in the evening can also help, and it is best to avoid alcohol as it dehydrates the body.

On the morning of your blood test, drink water when you wake up unless you have been told to fast.

Keep yourself warm and wear layers so your arms stay cosy. Cold causes veins to constrict. Heat helps veins open, so a warm shower or placing a warm flannel or heat pack on your arm for five to ten minutes before your appointment can make a real difference.

Just before the blood is taken, let your arm hang down by your side for a minute or two. This allows gravity to increase blood flow. Gently opening and closing your fist or squeezing a stress ball can help, but avoid frantic pumping.

Calm breathing also matters. When we are anxious, veins can spasm and make access difficult.

If you have had lymph node surgery, radiotherapy or breast cancer treatment on one side, always tell them which arm is safest to use.

Save this post for your next appointment 💕

Decluttering Hollys ( my daughters) old bedroom, I came across this piece of homework she had done in school years ago. Writing about who inspired her in life. She had written about the time we had taken part in cancer researches - Race for Life back in June 2013.

So this month it inspired us both to take part in the 100 Squats a Day Challenge.
Please can you donate whatever you can to help us raise £150 to help Cancer Research with their life saving work? Thanks 💕

January gets such a bad reputation, but I still love it. 💕

This year I’m not chasing resolutions or rigid goals. I’m choosing something gentler.

Fun. Health. Peace.

Choosing again, moment by moment, and trusting that’s enough.

A new blog is now live if you’d like to read more about being intentional this year - Why 2026 Is Not About Resolutions or Goals, but Choices and Intentions

Happy New Year, Em x

What a difference a year makes.

🥲In less than 12 months my long locks went from bouncy, blond and abundant to to bald, grey and scraggly.

😂 I’ll never, ever moan about a bad hair day again!

I’ve so much to feel thankful for right now. This year may not have been the easiest year of my life ( that’s an understatement!) but it’s certainly brought with it many lessons and enlightenment.

I’m so grateful for all my friends and family and the families I work with for all your support 🥰

Happy New Year 🥳

May 2026 bring you health, happiness, strength, courage, peace, lessons & blessings, healing & hope.
Much love, Em 💕
