When this happened we couldn’t believe how kind and generous Yeshua really is. We really started to get it.
Shaun had just been offered his first teaching post in Innisfail . We were living in Ipswich in our first home. I didn’t really want to leave all my friends and life stuff.
I was in the kitchen making dinner one night and the Spirit clearly said to me, “it’s not all about you. come on time to pack up the shop and head north.”
Facebook had just started then and before we left I found this place on marketplace. It looked to good to be true. I called it the Lakehouse. I contacted M who had posted the ad and then I told Shaun but he said don’t worry about it, we’ll find something when we get there.
We had a huge garage sale and hit the road with our trailer load. I had tears streaming down as we drove off up the Bruce Highway.
Everything got soaked in torrential monsoon rain on the way up . As we passed Townsville , the beauty of the mountains began to soothe me, I had been to Cairns twice for holidays as a kid and the region also reminded me of the South of Thailand.
We stayed at the August Moon caravan park whilst we looked at rentals. There wasn’t much to see, in that week I got a job at a local firm who had just had an intern resign . My ‘interview’ outfit was a tank top singlet and a mini skirt. I didn’t even have a proper practice certificate yet.
We went out to Josephine Falls for a swim one afternoon then Shaun saw a road and said let’s go down there and have a look for that place you found on marketplace . It was about 6pm in the evening and I said we’re not going to find it let’s go back . He later told me he sensed the Spirit say keep going , you will go and find them and have dinner there.
We drove down these country roads and then I saw the pontoon and the orange boat 🚤 and I said that’s it. We drove in and met a man in the house who directed us to see M in the other house up the hill. We went up there and met M and his wife who warmly welcomed us into their home, we had dinner with them and discovered they were also people of faith in Yeshua then it was settled that we would live at the Lakehouse. The most beautiful place I had ever seen.
We don’t always know what comes next but when you roll in covenant with Y he takes care of stuff and can organise some pretty cool deals. Get in touch if you want to talk more.
