Bay Islands Community Healthcare Association Quality healthcare is a basic human right. BICHA is a 501c3 organization. Clinica Esperanza serves 60-80 patients per day. The patients are charged L.70.

Our mission: raise funds to support Clinica Esperanza and its many outreach programs so that the people of Roatan have access to quality, affordable healthcare. With the added laboratory and ultrasound capabilities, we are able to diagnose more complicated, acute patients that were previously sent elsewhere. Prevalent diseases: Diabetes and hypertension are most prevalent in the adults. Dehydratio

n, diarrhea, asthma and rotavirus are more common in the children. Patient payments: Our treatment fees for our patients have remained the same since 2004. ($3.70) but no one is turned away for lack of payment. We are actually trying to locate more poor patients through our promatoras and health fairs in the communities as they often are embarrassed to come to the clinic until there condition worsens.
