Behindhersmile This page has been started to raise awareness about my condition which is called 'neuropathic enteric dysmotility' which is a form of intestinal failure.

Charlotte was born with a condition called Gastroschisis (where part or all of the intestines are outside of the stomach). In Charlotte's case it was pretty much all of them. She was operated on the day she was born and was able to come home 2 months after her surgery. What we didn't realise was that any intestinal operation will leave adhesions and scarring causing it to stick together and other

parts inside her body. After additional surgery on further occasions at the age of just 19 she is unable to eat a normal diet of solid food, it mostly consists of nutricious shakes and soft foods that are easily digestible (a bit like baby food). She has to take strong pain killers every single day and has been told that this will be the case for the rest of her life. This may also make her infertile. How can a young person in the prime of her life be left with the prospect of this.
