𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.

That was just one reaction from the launch of Garden Talk & Taste at Ensō Village, a new seasonal series that invites residents to experience the deeper story behind the food on their plate.

A collaboration between Chef Anthony and Kitchen Garden Manager Aris, this experience offers beautifully prepared small bites using ingredients grown on campus. From Hakurei turnips to Sweet Alyssum tea, each ingredient was celebrated for its flavor, nutritional power, and story as Chef Anthony shared the inspiration and preparation process while Aris offered insight into how and why each plant is grown, highlighting the care, ecology, and purpose behind every ingredient.

This series reflects a broader commitment at Ensō Village to cultivate a food culture grounded in transparency, intention, and connection — to the land, the community, and the deeper meaning of nourishment.

On April 8, residents of Ensō Village gathered to celebrate Hanamatsuri, the Flower Festival, marking the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha and the arrival of spring.

After a morning service in the Zendo, residents gathered around a flower-covered pagoda, lovingly decorated by volunteers, to honor the baby Buddha in a ritual that celebrates renewal and centuries of Buddhist tradition.

Moments like these reflect the heart of Ensō Village: mindful, connected, alive.

We’re grateful for the Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County's support and for the opportunity to share Enso Village with Amy Ramirez and Mary Ott. Thank you for your visit and for your dedication to community health!

This week our Executive Director, Amy Ramirez, and Development Director, Mary Ott, visited with David Smart, the Executive Director of Enso Village, and Susan O'Connell, the visionary who helped create the community and a current resident. David and Susan are pictured here with Amy.

Enso Village is America’s first Zen-inspired Life Plan Community and located in Healdsburg. It offers adults who are 60+ a focus on mindful aging, the joys of nature, environmental stewardship, contemplative care and healthy life choices. It was wonderful to visit with David and Susan, see the facility, and hear about the important work they're doing to help seniors enjoy life to their fullest potential.
