Anna Jones, RD I love food and helping people learn easy, practical ideas for improving their health through nutrition. You truly can't out exercise an unhealthy diet.

I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor passionate about helping people improve their habits and have a more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies. I enjoy sharing easy, fresh ideas for cooking and preparing food and changing recipes up a bit to make them tastier and healthier. With the busy lifestyles of today many people and families have moved away from t

he kitchen into convenience foods. I think that it is possible, with a little pre-planning, to have healthy foods on hand to throw together simple, delicious meals that incorporate real whole foods. Nutrition and exercise go hand in hand when it comes to wellness, quality of life, and longevity. You can't have true good health without both being physically active and incorporating healthy foods. I have a very active lifestyle, and know firsthand how to use the power of good nutrition to stay energized. It just doesn't work. It was through small changes in my own eating and moving towards a whole, real foods based diet that I have been able to reach my own weight and health goals. I have over 10 years experience in health and wellness and truly am passionate about helping people make healthy, lasting lifestyle changes through balanced nutrition and physical activity.

🌮 No Diet Day is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with our bodies—not to fix them, but to appreciate and care for them.

🍝 It’s not about giving up on health, it’s about tuning back in to what your body already knows and what it needs.

🥗 This means:
* Nourishing yourself without guilt
* Noticing how food makes you feel
* Honoring hunger and fullness
* Caring for and respecting your body
* Letting movement be joyful, not punishment
* Making room for pleasure and satisfaction in eating

3 Ways to celebrate No Diet Day:

🧁 Eat exactly what you want with no guilt today
No one should deprive themselves of the joy, pleasure, and satisfaction of eating today or any day. Get creative and eat something that is exactly what you want. Try to enjoy it mindfully - notice how your meal or snack of choice looks, smells, feels in your mouth, and tastes. Food is never a reason to feel guilty.

💃🏼Try out joyful movement
Joyful movement is a way of approaching physical activity that emphasizes pleasure, choice, flexibility, celebration, and intuition. Today is a great day to choose to move your body in ways that feel enjoyable, rather than as a means to burn calories, change how you look, or to lose weight. Here are some ideas:
* Take your dog for a walk
* Play with kids or grandkids
* Spend some time in your garden
* Take a hike
* Go for a bike ride
* Take a yoga class
* Take a walk around the block after a meal
* Dance
* Play catch
* Walk while on the phone
* Jump rope
* Go roller skating
* Swim
* Stretch when you wake up/go to bed

♥️ Appreciate your body, as it is in this moment
Pause and take a moment to recognize and acknowledge everything that your body does and everything you and your body have been through today. Many of us spend most of our lives trying to fix our bodies and feeling shame about them. The truth is that bodies of all shapes and sizes are amazing and deserving of so much appreciation. Today is a great day to practice appreciating yourself as you are.

🙋🏼‍♀️ Can you imagine living everyday in this way? Feeling freedom and peace with food and your body? It is possible.

This is what my client said yesterday during our session. She gave me permission to share. 😉

🎂 We were talking about a recent doctor’s visit where she was given a long list of foods she SHOULD NOT eat because of her elevated cholesterol. Cake was one of the foods on the list.

🍰 After leaving she felt a strong desire for cake. (I mean cake is good so having a desire for it is totally normal.) But the thing is, she doesn’t even like cake!

🧁 It was being told NOT to eat it that made her want it. I have heard similar stories and experiences from so many clients. The norm is to be told what not to eat and so often it just makes us want to eat those foods even more…sometimes when we don’t even like them.

🥮 Weird right? But the thing is most of us don’t like being told what to do and especially what not to do. Our inner rebel takes over. There is a lot to be said for presenting nutrition information and suggestions in a supportive way without making people feel judgement, shame, or guilt.

♥️ Eating well for general health and for many other conditions including high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. does not have to be all about what NOT to eat. Instead, I love sharing all about positive nutrition and what to include to improve health and bring enjoyment and pleasure back into the eating equation.

What’s the first word that came to mind?🤔

Diet culture has a sneaky way of brainwashing us into filling that blank with objectifying, perfectionistic words like skinny and small.

We are all swimming in the same cultural sea that tells us our bodies are only worthy if we fit the mold and look a certain way.

You weren’t born being dissatisfied with your body or with that need for striving for perfection, you have been conditioned to feel that way.

What if you questioned that automatic response? What if instead you filled that blank with empowered words that are about the functionality and true purpose of the amazing, unique, God given vessel you’ve been given?

Try it out…
🔹Which of those empowering words speaks to you?
🔹When you use that word how does it change how you might care for and treat your body? 🔹What habits and behaviors would support you in getting to that goal?

Your body is an instrument, not an ornament. Your body is worthy of being honored, cared for, and respected.

Not sure how to make this shift? Let me help you.

I know, it’s not super sexy but it’s true!

So often when we think of improving our nutrition, we think in terms of cutting out foods we “shouldn’t” eat. Improving our health through food does not have to be about avoiding certain foods.

This is especially true with gut health. The rhetoric around improving gut health usually centers around removing certain foods.

While this may be beneficial for some with specific intolerances, in general, we and our guts would benefit greatly from simply adding in foods with fiber.

Andddd it’s not just our gut health we can improve. There are many other potential benefits too. See Why? slide ⬆️.

This is something I call Positive Nutrition - improving health and how we feel in our bodies by adding in versus taking away.

Our collective fear and avoidance of carbs has negatively impacted our intake of fiber. The food category of carbs includes lots of different types of foods, many of which are rich sources of fiber.

The truth is that CARBS are a necessary and beneficial part of the whole picture of eating for health and enjoyment.

What one thing can you do today to include more fiber?

**Tip** Be sure to also make sure you are getting lots of water/fluids when increasing fiber.

Eating CAN be fun and doesn’t have to be stressful and restrictive.

Today is International No Diet Day!

🥦Not dieting is often misuunderstood as not caring about food or your body. That it is somehow about giving up.

🥨The opposite is true. It is actually about learning how to honor, respect, and truly care for yourself and your body.

🍔Research shows that dieting is almost guaranteed to result in weight regain over and above what was originally lost.

🍉Dieting is also highly likely to result in disordered eating and body dissatisfaction, if not a full-blown eating disorder.

🍰 There is another way to relate to food and your body! The non-diet path.

Curious about beginning on the path to food and body peace? Reach out. I would love to support you.

Exercise or movement is very often looked at solely as a way to burn calories, pay penance for what we’ve eaten or control our bodies in some way.

This mentality makes movement burdensome and a chore. Leading to inconsistency and resistance to it.

Shifting our perspective to thinking about movement as a means to all of these other benefits listed here can be a game changer!

Which one(s) resonates most for you?

This was beautifully displayed outside of my yoga class this morning at Journeys. I did a double take. Like in a puzzle, the whole thing needs each every one of us.

On this Valentine’s Day and everyday I hope you remember to love others, but also show yourself love, compassion, and kindness too. ♥️

🧘🏼‍♀️Today is World Menopause Awareness Day💃🏼

Menopause has forever been a taboo topic leading many women to suffer needlessly through it.

WHY?!!!

Just like puberty, it is a natural and normal process of aging for all women.

I say, let’s talk about it, ask for support when we need it, and be informed about how to care for our bodies in this and all phases of life.

The theme for this year’s World Menopause Day is heart health.
