What an exciting opportunity for Dr Susan Scanlon and her fellow colleagues from US Women’s Health Alliance to meet with staff of 10 Senate and House members to advocate for private practice and a path to improve maternal mortality rates and women’s healthcare. Dr Scanlon, President of Midwest Center for Women's HealthCare, Ob-Gyn Physicians, was able to express the significant role private practice can play in improving maternal mortality rates in Illinois with the staff of Jan Schakowsky, who represents the district where Midwest Center for Women’s Healthcare’s 15 offices are located. Physician participation at a national level is key to maintaining the viability of independent private practices in the competitive environment of large hospital systems.
