er life! Growing up, we rarely had refined sugar or sweets in the house. I remember eating cereal at a friend’s house one morning after a sleepover and being in awe of how she added spoonfuls of sugar to her cereal! After I got married and became a mom, I started to eat anything I wanted. I was a candy fanatic, drank soda every day and ate out at restaurants on the regular. I kept an active lifestyle and the scale told me exactly what I wanted to see, but I still didn’t feel good inside. When Tim, Trevor and I went on vacation a few years ago, I felt so tired. That’s when I knew something had to change. That’s when I decided to make my health a priority. I used my newfound inspiration to learn more about the ingredients in our foods, how they are grown and what chemicals are used in their production. I also started to research about the mental and physical benefits of yoga, weight lifting, resistance training and wellness. The more I learned and the more I put these lessons into my daily lifestyle, the better I felt. I wanted to tell everyone about it and that’s why I decided to start my blog and Instagram account. Being fit and eating good food is what makes me feel alive and everyone deserves to feel strong, confident and happy. I’m thrilled we’re connected and I’m excited for the journey ahead. Making new friendships & connections with people from all over the world is something I treasure. My dad passed away one year ago, a day after his 73rd birthday. He was everything to us, and it is unimaginable that a whole year has passed by without him. He suffered from a disease that prevents red blood cells from processing the iron used for making hemoglobin, resulting in red cell dysfunction. For years after his diagnosis with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), he relied on blood donations from people just like you.

My dad was so supportive and protective of his family. Above all else, he could not stand to see others hurting. To mark the first anniversary of his passing, my family organized a SleevesUp Campaign through the American Red Cross to help people in need.

Please honor my dad’s memory by scheduling a blood donation appointment today!

here's your reminder to get outside, unplug and reconnect with yourself. we need gym time to lift, run, squat, jump, you name it.. but we also NEED to get out of the gym as well. nature can reduce anxiety & depression, improve memory and help our immune system. fresh air is healing!
so get out there and make it a great day. and if you're not having a great day, be the good in someone else's. remember, we’re ALL struggling with something on different levels. be kind, smile, hold the door for someone... every little thing makes a difference ✨

this green juice made from pineapple, mango, kale, turmeric + ginger is a great way to squeeze some anti inflammatory foods in your diet. it's easy to whip up, nutrient dense & so good. just juice the ingredients, strain and enjoy! you must make this asap. 🍍

wake up beauty… it’s time to beast 💪🏼
70% of people that start a fitness plan quit. except you. NOT THIS TIME. let’s be real… we all have days when we want to skip that workout or when we just want to eat allll da things. that’s when you have to take a minute + breathe + think about what you REALLY want. sure, you can make excuses about not having enough time today or that you’ll start tomorrow, but i’m here to tell you to start now. THIS. VERY. MOMENT. make yourself a priority + make yourself accountable. i’m worth it, and YOU are worth it!
if you need some motivation, print a yearly calendar and post it where you can see it. consistency is key 🔑! this little trick helps me stick to my fitness goals & i just loooove circling that number every day after my workout! boss babe A-game coming atcha! bahahaha! 😈 what’s one thing helping you crush your goals this week?! happy monSLAY guys!

happiness is a journey, not a destination. BOOM! 👊🏼

do you sometimes think you’ll be happier when you achieve a certain goal? are you willing to feel miserable along the way because you believe that’s the price you have to pay?

then why do we sometimes still feel unhappy when we’ve reached our ideal weight? or found the perfect relationship? or moved into that beautiful home?

happiness does not come from anything out in the world. happiness is created from within. it’s your thoughts – not anything “out there” – that will make you happy.

so i’m calling you out.

YOU. yes, you!

the things happening in your life are a result of what is happening in your mind. it’s true! it is not the events of life, but rather your views of those events, that dictate your levels of enjoyment and quality of life. your THOUGHTS create your life, not the other way around. life is an inside job.

so what’s the alternative?

thought brings experience to life for all people. if you want to set goals, first look at WHY you want what you want. this is what goal setting looks like from an INSIDE-OUT perspective.

would you still want it if no one else knew about it?
if you lived on a deserted island, would it still be important to you?
are you having fun doing it?

focus on a goal that is important to you, not because you’re seeking approval or status or happiness or security. if you don’t want it, then don’t do it. goals aren’t guaranteed to give you any particular feeling, so don’t put that kind of pressure on them.

stay present, live in the moment, and watch how much easier life feels.

what would your life look like if you scheduled ME TIME into your day the same way you schedule work? this week, i challenge you to take 30 minutes out of your day to give yourself some time to do something just for you. for me, it’s spending time with my family, going for a walk, working out at the gym, or taking a relaxing bath. trust me, i get it… even 30 minutes can sometimes feel hard to come by 😏 but even getting up a little earlier or checking out of social media for a while is good for the soul 🙌🏼 it’s a practice… learning how to take care of you. and just like everything else, the more you practice, the easier it gets.

try this healthy dessert idea!

honey roasted peaches 🍑

3 large ripe peaches - halved and pitted
1/4 cup raw honey
1 vanilla bean; seeds of
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
a pinch of sea salt

preheat oven to 350 degrees F

in a small bowl, whisk ingredients together and spoon on top of peaches.

bake uncovered for 25-30 min or until golden. add your favorite toppings and enjoy!

if you want to make the most of your day… divide and conquer.

try this! start every day with a 24-hour commitment. pick ONE mind goal, body goal, or soul goal (look, i rhymed!) you want to accomplish today. “today i will __________.”

here’s how it works!

divide your waking hours into three or four segments. let’s say you are awake for 16 hours. you could divide that time into four 4-hour segments.

identify your “thriving,” “surviving,” and “struggle bus” zones so you can zero-in on where change needs to happen.

at the end of the day, see if you met your goal. if you did, you should be proud of yourself for accomplishing something that matters to you. 👏🏼👏🏼 if you didn’t, have compassion for yourself and LOOK FOR THE LESSON. what can you do today to help yourself accomplish this goal tomorrow? 🧐

that’s why preparation is so important. go to bed 30 minutes earlier so you don’t feel tired when the morning alarm goes off. prep your snacks the day before so you aren’t tempted to reach for those high-sugar alternatives. lay out your workout clothes so you can throw them on and go!

remember… nothing changes until YOU DO.

all the fall vibes with this banana oatmeal breakfast bowl. do it. 🍂🍌🙌🏼

1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk of choice
1/4 cup water or additional milk of choice
1 large very overripe banana, mashed

did you know that peppermint oil applied to the forehead and temples is just as effective for tension headaches as 1,000 mg of Tylenol? 👏🏼😊
in a 1996 German study, diluted peppermint oil was applied across the forehead and temples of patients of both sexes, ages 18-65, suffering from tension-type headaches. comparisons were made to the effects of 1,000 mg of acetaminophen, as well as a placebo. researchers found that there was no significant difference between the efficacy of 1,000 mg of acetaminophen and 10% peppermint oil in ethanol solution. in fact, the peppermint oil significantly reduced the clinical headache intensity after 15 minutes, the same amount of time the acetaminophen took!
if you’re looking for a natural, cost-effective alternative to over-the counter medications, massage a few drops 💦 of diluted peppermint essential oil into your temples and forehead. essential oils are concentrated, so you only need a very small amount to take advantage of their many benefits. the recommended ratio is 3 to 5 drops of essential oil to 1 ounce of carrier oil. some of my favorites are coconut oil, argan oil and rosehip oil. as always, if you have any health-related concerns, please talk to your doctor before trying any alternative or holistic treatments to remedy pain.
