💙 Celebrating World Autism Day with ABC Hangout! 💙

At Ark, through the ABC Hangout, we focused on sports and the arts to foster meaningful connections for individuals with autism and their families. This World Autism Day, hear from caregivers and youth volunteers as they share their experiences and insights on our programs, autism, and inclusion.

Because everyone deserves a space to learn, grow, and thrive. 🌟

We’re still buzzing from the success of this 8 weeks where we combined evidence-based social skills training from Ark with the magic of visual and performing arts by thefoolishtribe!
A huge shoutout to Coach Terry and Evan from thefoolishtribe , who went above and beyond in preparing our children with autism for their singing performance. From crafting props and costumes to guiding them on stage, their dedication made all the difference. 🌟🎤🎨
We’re also deeply grateful to the incredible support of our Ark volunteers, Anglican High School's Class 3J ‘24 (NYAA) and our amazing children volunteers. Their kindness, patience, and friendships helped create a supportive and inclusive environment for the children with autism. 🤝💛
None of this would have been possible without the collaboration of Ark Social and the ELI Grant ( SG Enable & Tote Board).

🌟 What a Fun & Inclusive Day at ABC Fiesta! 🎉

From pickleball and boccia to trampoline fitness and soccer, children, youths with autism and their families had a blast exploring sports and creative arts activities! 🏓⚽🎨 They also shared their activity preferences, helping us shape future weekly programs. A highlight was the beautiful song performance by our children with autism together with students from Anglican High, dressed in handmade costumes that they created. This heartfelt showcase was the result of eight weeks of dedication and creativity at the ABC Hangout, led by the foolishtribe, our coaches Terry and Evan!

We were honoured to have Mr. Ron Loh, Deputy Chief Executive of SG Enable, as our Guest of Honour to officially declare the games open!

A huge THANK YOU to our sponsors through the ELI Grant (SG Enable & Tote Board), as well as our amazing supporter and consultant, SportCares. 🙌 And of course, our heartfelt appreciation goes to our coaches, ARK volunteers and the students from Anglican High School—your energy and kindness made this event truly special! 💫

🌟 We’re thrilled to launch the ABC Hangout! This program provides individuals with autism the access to structured sports and arts activities while learning evidence-based social skills. In our inaugural launch, participants had a blast playing boccia alongside peers of mixed abilities, including our child volunteers. We equipped youth volunteers from 3J Anglican High School with the awareness of autism and tools of how they can effectively help persons with autism in their NYAA project. We also collaborated with parents to help everyone thrive in their social skills journey. Many thanks to the support from Enabling Lives Initiative (ELI) Grant (Tote Board & SG Enable), our coaches, facilitators and volunteers for making this happen!

Ark is transitioning from Ark Centre to Ark Social and becoming a non-profit organization! Our goal is to enhance support for families living with autism. We're committed to staying relevant to meet existing needs and making meaningful impact on the well-being of individuals with autism through evidence-based programs. Together, we can create positive change! 💙

Throwback to our wonderful picnic in the park! The Ark community came together to chill, have fun, and support families with autism. It was a beautiful day where children of all abilities enjoyed each other’s company and made lasting memories! Thank you to our big hearted volunteers!
