In Japan, girls might receive red rice to mark the occasion. In parts of Brazil, there’s dance, celebration, even ritual baths. In South Africa, elders may offer guidance, storytelling, or symbolic gifts. These traditions recognise menarche as a moment of transformation, a crossing into cyclical life.
