There are so many benefits to yoga it would be impossible to list them all here, however, some of the main ones include: improved flexibility (the key to feeling younger), improved posture, toned muscles, increased strength and endurance, decreased stress levels, improved circulation and feeling more energised. Yoga works great as an add on to other sports/exercises or by itself. I found this perfectly shaped rock in a little cove a few minutes walk from where I was staying whilst on holiday in Lanzarote. I named it my yoga stone as I would sit here for a few minutes after my early morning walk along the promenade enjoying the peace & tranquility. It was a wonderful way to start my day. I realise that it’s a lot easier to do when you’re on holiday & you have a view like this and the ocean soundtrack but starting your day with just a few minutes of mindful breathing & stretching can make a big difference to your day and your mood. Doing yoga doesn’t have to be a full hour long class.
Try it now. Pause your scrolling. Sit up and just take a few deep breaths.

My ‘style’ of yoga is more about building functional mobility & strength so you’ll not find splits, headstands or fast flows… in case you’re worried 😝

Given that at this time of year yin energy is stronger & nature is in her hibernation phase, for me, it is not the time to push harder or to restrict ourselves etc. IMO that’s for springtime. However, we can still set intentions to take better care of ourselves, and others, to reset some of those good habits that nurture us, to be kind to ourselves & others and to live with gratitude in our hearts. Wishing you all a very happy new year 🤗🙏🧘‍♀️

My Story

I have been practicing yoga for many years and decided to complete my teacher training as I wanted to share yoga with others. I am also a Science teacher and I guess it is in my nature to want to 'teach' people about something that I am passionate about.
