Maternity leave dump. Not pictured: Postpartum difficulties.
Many things did NOT go according to plan. Actually, many things went to 💩.
I easily forgot that many things are simply out of my control. My body feels unfamiliar, sleep is a 5-letter word and let’s not even discuss having to care for an infant during a formula shortage when my breastmilk supply didn’t meet demand.
Yet, I am Deeply grateful to my momma, mi gente & partner for wisely stepping in when I was in denial about how much harder postpartum was this time around. Their support and prompts to use coping tools like community, facilitated my ability to accept help and be present with my family during such an incredible experience.
Time flew. Already working full time. Baby is cared for & I’m looking forward to being 💯. In the meantime, I'm doing my best.
💫Pro Tip: SUPPORT any postpartum families in your world - order takeout, offer babysitting, fold some laundry etc. Trust, it is immensely helpful.
