🦴 What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break — even from small falls or everyday movements.
Often called a “silent disease,” it usually shows no symptoms until a fracture occurs.
📉 It happens when bone loss outpaces bone formation.
👩‍🦳 Most common in older adults, especially postmenopausal women.
⚠️ Risk factors: age, family history, low calcium/vitamin D, smoking, alcohol, and some medications.
✅ Prevention Tips:
• Eat calcium- & vitamin D–rich foods
• Do regular weight-bearing exercise
• Avoid smoking & limit alcohol
Take care of your bones now — your future self will thank you.

🩸 Urgent Blood Shortage – National Emergency
The American Red Cross has declared a critical blood shortage. Fewer donations, higher demand, and disrupted blood drives have created a serious gap.

❤️ Why it matters:
Blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatments, trauma care, and more. Without it, patients face delays in life-saving care.

💉 You can help.
If you're eligible, please schedule a donation through the Red Cross or your local blood center.

👁️ What is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve, often due to high pressure in the eye from fluid buildup. It can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated.
There are two main types:
🔹 Open-angle glaucoma – The most common type. It develops slowly, with no pain or early symptoms.
🔹 Angle-closure glaucoma – Less common but serious. It can happen suddenly when the iris blocks drainage in the eye.
🧠 Important: Glaucoma often has no early warning signs. A simple pressure check isn't enough. Only a full eye exam can diagnose it.
🔍 During a glaucoma exam, your eye doctor will:
✔️ Measure eye pressure
✔️ Check drainage angles
✔️ Examine the optic nerve
✔️ Test peripheral vision
✔️ Take images and measure corneal thickness
