HAPPY DIWALI!

DEEPAVALI or Diwali means “a row of lights”.

Everyone forgets and forgives the wrongs done by others.
In a happy mood of great rejoicing people move about freely, mixing with one another without any reserve, all enmity being forgotten. They embrace one another with love. Deepavali is a great unifying force. The vibrations produced by the greetings of love which fill the atmosphere are powerful enough to bring about a change of heart in every man and woman in the world.

O Ram! The light of lights, the self-luminous inner light of the Self is ever shining steadily in the chamber of your heart. Sit quietly. Close your eyes. Withdraw the senses. Fix the mind on this supreme light and enjoy the real Deepavali, by attaining illumination of the soul.He who Himself sees all but whom no one beholds, who illumines the intellect, the sun, the moon and the stars and the whole universe but whom they cannot illumine, He indeed is Brahman, He is the inner Self. Celebrate the real Deepavali by living in Brahman, and enjoy the eternal bliss of the soul.
Many Deepavali festivals have come and gone. Yet the hearts of the vast majority are as dark as the night of the new moon. The house is lit with lamps, but the heart is full of the darkness of ignorance. O man! wake up from the slumber of ignorance. Realise the constant and eternal light of the Soul which neither rises nor sets, through meditation and deep enquiry. Swami Sivananda

Meditation in Vedanta
Preliminary meditation for six months:
1. On the blue expansive sky, all­-pervading air or ether, or light, or Himalayas, or infinite ocean.
2. On abstract qualities: mercy, patience, generosity, etc.
3. On abstract ideas: indivisibility, existence, wisdom, bliss, truth, eternity, immortality, infinity, purity, etc., will render the mind subtle and sharp and prepare it for deep abstract meditation on Atman. Sivananda

The abstract forms of meditation are soul-filling and very powerful. Take each one of them for about 5 minutes a day and you will feel as if you have been lifted out of your body and will have found the serenity, the bliss, and the feeling of infinite. consciousness within and without.

Beauty is essentially spiritual. Real beauty lies in one’s heart. It is in one’s character. Beauty dwells in purity. Beauty shines in virtues. Love is a refined, innate sense of oneness with the entire creation. Love is self-denial, selflessness.
Love is the sacredness of the heart. Love is unrestrained goodwill, mercy, compassion, and tolerance. Love is the absence of sensuality. Sivananda

There is a relationship between the heart and beauty. The link is the purity of motives, feelings, and thoughts. The greatest beauty is that of the complete absence of self-importance. difficulties as endless opportunities;
hardships as processes of discovery and learning,
suffering as molding of our character and
burning off the impurities created by attachments, by what once we held dear but was nevertheless an illusion;
Recognize the so-called bad people as the saint makers,
The ungrateful and mean as rare objects of love,
Crises as springboards for our expansion and growth,
The presence of evil as a way of promoting and glorifying the good,
Diseases as karmic purification.
See your present as future,
Realize your life as an Eternal Life.
