I used to do it all wrong.
I believed that eating less and training harder was the answer. I’d skip meals, cut calories way too low, and do hours of cardio every week. And for a while, I stayed “thin”… but not fit.
So let’s talk about something not enough people are addressing: being skinny fat.
This is when your body looks slim in clothes, but underneath, you may have a higher body fat percentage and less lean muscle mass. You’re not overweight on the scale but you may feel soft, weak, bloated, or frustrated that you “don’t look fit” despite being small.
What NOT to do:
🚫 Stop obsessing over eating less and doing more cardio.
🚫 Don’t fall into the trap of thinking smaller portions and longer workouts will fix it.
🚫 Avoid crash diets, skipping meals, and pushing through fatigue, these all slow down your metabolism and cause your body to store more fat over time.
What you SHOULD do:
✅ Start strength training to build lean muscle (which gives your body shape).
✅ Fuel your body with enough calories and protein to support that muscle.
✅ Focus on balanced hormones, stable energy, and consistent habits.

What I didn’t realize was I was actually slowing my metabolism and pushing my body into survival mode. I was storing more fat and losing muscle without even realizing it.
Once I learned how to train smarter and fuel properly, everything changed. My body composition shifted. I felt stronger, had more energy, and actually looked like I worked out.
If any of this sounds familiar you don’t need another diet. You need a strategy built for your body, your hormones, your goals.
