Here we go a-raffling.

I am in love with the weekly Give-Back-Tuesday fundraisers at the Rainbow Cattle Company. There is something so thrilling about a little low-stakes luck trying while raising money for local organizations. Today's ticket purchase went to support the library and resulted in this sweet hand-painted bowl coming home with us. ❤️

Farm days.

This is where my joy is fed: wandering among the vines, the taste of fresh sugar snap peas to soon be followed by sun-warmed strawberries, recipe possibilities dancing through my head. 🌿

This is our 4th year with the CSA and we are just as in infatuated as we were the first time we stepped onto the fields. 💕

On the road again...

I was home four days before trekking off to teach at and attend my favorite conference. Finding my way and my center as I return to work and "the work".

I have led 5 classes so far and made 3 new beautiful things. Enjoying the quiet of my room and this incredible salad (vegetables are in my life again, hurrah!) as I gear up to lead class 6 tonight and then explore the magic that is "Wanderings". Balance. ❤️

Trigger warning: grief and imposter syndrome

As I pack and prepare and make my final class plans, I bear witness to the joy and excitement that comes with looking forward to this week with all of you. The energy, the opportunities to connect and learn, the passion for creation that emanates through the halls and classrooms: I absolutely love all of it.

And, also...

I allow myself to see the other energies whispering in my space: the nervousness around teaching live for the first time in 3 years, the grief from the recent loss of a friend that is still teaching me and tickles at the other griefs tucked within my being, the extroverted introvert fear that I will be too much or not enough or just won't fit in.

Why do I share (or perhaps overshare?) this with you all here now?

Well, because this is what I do in my work: honor and celebrate both the bright lights and the challenges of every moment, because every moment has both.

And because if there is even one of you that finds yourself during this week feeling overwhelmed by a challenging emotion or an internal story that you didn't expect, even while being surrounded by so much light, I want you to know that I am right there with you, experiencing joys alongside sorrows, and that it is okay to walk with all of it. ❤️

Finito. 💕

It has been a lovely and inspiring three months of training.

Now it is time to come
home and get back to work...

I will be teaching my Heart-Centered yoga, meditation and self-care classes at 's Craftcation 2023 in a couple weeks, and then returning to Sonoma County for a summer of baking, Italian cuisine pop-ups, and Nourish. Honor. Play. Workshops. So stay tuned and stay in touch! ❤️

Just a few more days here before I leave this sweet cocoon and wander back home. ❤️

Photos are:
1) A walk in woods that do not smell like home, but still provided a lovely spirit lift.
2) Yoga on my balcony.
3) Contorno.
4) My first cannoli. Stay tuned for cannoli and pizza fritta pop-ups on Sonoma County this summer. ❤️
5) Tropea.
6) Flowers from the local Mercatino.
7) Ramen noodles we made for Ramen night.
8) My first mozzarella and burrata. Now I just need to make 1,000 more to truly get the hang of it...
9) Lemoncello Olive Oil cake for breakfast. Another "stay tuned Sonoma County" item...
10) Baby goats at the dairy farm. 💕

Sorry...

An interesting thing has happened to me here, in this world of another language: I keep forgetting how to say the word "sorry" in Italian.

I mean, I know it, but it isn't easy for me to recall, so I find I almost never use it in my Italian interactions wuth the same frequency as I do in English:

When I want to get by or get someone's attention suddenly, I say "scusi".

When I don't understand something, I just say so, "io non capisco", no qualifiers, no apologies.

And when I don't want to buy something or do something or talk to someone, I just say "no, grazie."

After a lifetime of "sorry, sorry, sorry" it feels rude when I think about it, and yet I have to admit that I am finding myself to be heard in a new way:

When I say no, I only have to say it one time.

When I don't understand, or need more information, we find another way to communicate.

When I need to get by, people move.

I hadn't even realized how much I say sorry in my native language, and yet now I am beginning to hear how much other women around me use it, like some kind of verbal tic, a comfortable position for us to fall back into again and again. "I'm sorry I have a question", "I'm sorry I need to get by", "I'm sorry I don't want what you want".

Maybe we all need a break from I'm sorry for a little bit to remember that our existence isn't something we need to apologize for...

41.

It's been a weird and beautiful year. Okay, maybe a number of years... even decades, perhaps?

Weird and beautiful. If that is the theme for this lifetime, for this particular collection of cells and energy and knowing and unknowing, then I'll keep doing my best to lean in and find joy in the abundant wild of it.

Weird and beautiful. If that was the title of a book left behind in the subway, I would be inspired to steal it away in my purse and read it cover to cover, so why not just sign my name to the author's page?

Weird and beautiful. If the only paths that feel like they are leading me home are these strange patchwork ones that I create myself, then I will weave bricks of soft grass and gold threads and enjoy the sweet and shiny way they bounce ever so slightly with each step forward....

Thank you to everyone who makes this weird and beautiful existence such a pleasure to explore. ❤️
