A total knee replacement is a surgical procedure that replaces the damaged surfaces of the knee joint with artificial components. In the “before” image, the bone surfaces are rough and worn from arthritis, causing pain and limited movement. In the “after” image, smooth metal and plastic implants take the place of the damaged cartilage and bone, restoring function. These artificial parts mimic the natural movement of the joint and relieve chronic pain.
