Beyond addressing issues of race and racism, this children’s reading list focuses on taking action. It highlights resistance, resilience and activism; and seeks to empower youth to participate in the ongoing movement for racial justice.

I'm doing some research and could use some help.

Please PM me if you don't want to post your answer!

Here's my question:

If you have a daughter you love but who sometimes drives you crazy, what's the #1 thing you'd like to improve about your relationship with her? (please also include how old she is)?

Thanks Jen Liddy Coaching & Development for a great conversation today about grief and how we're all feeling it right now in some form or another.

I could talk about this stuff all day!

Does back-to-school make you want to party because you finally get to p**p without being interrupted, but also cause dread because you know your child’s stress and anxiety is going to skyrocket?

Up until 6th grade, my daughters attended a small local school that had no homework or tests. The school focused on learning through play, community building, and social and emotional health – basically nourishing and educating the whole child.

My kids LOVED going to school every day and I LOVED having them there.

Once they started more traditional schools, their stress and anxiety exploded. And it was a long road to get it processed and under control.

If you’re struggling with helping your child with stress and anxiety, breathe a sigh of relief because I can help you!

To celebrate joining the team at Waters Light Therapy in their great location on Intrepid Lane, Syracuse, I’m offering a special for 10 moms and/or their teens who could use some support with the challenges of living with stress, anxiety, and associated depression.

Please note: this is not therapy or treatment of these conditions!
This is support and practical tools you can start using today to deal with the extra stressors of living with these conditions, combined with FDA-approved LED Light Therapy, which has been shown to balance the body, mind, and mood.

HERE's HOW you can take advantage of this:
FB Message me and answer the following 3 questions:
1. What is the biggest challenge you’re facing right now associated with stress and anxiety?
2. If you could change one thing about this situation, what would it be?
3. What have you tried in the past that has not worked for you?

After reading your responses, I will reply and give you more details about this amazing opportunity!

FOR THOSE RAISING DAUGHTERS...

In my work with moms of girls, I’m hearing the same things over and over. Our society can be a super harsh place for our daughters to navigate. I’m dealing with it every single day with my own daughters who are 12 and 13.

Now more than ever, we need to support our daughters so they can feel strong, confident, and stand in their power. This is the only way they can reach their full potential.

These are just a few of the challenges that seem to be a common thread: Feeling moody, stressed and anxious, lacking confidence, dealing with complex friendships and relationships, feeling low/depressed, focusing on negative thoughts, withdrawing from activities they were once excited about, struggling to handle strong emotions, and making good choices.

I believe we need not only to pull our girls up from these rough waters by teaching them HOW to deal with these challenges, but that they also deserve to be supported and propelled even further to reach their full potential. Our daughters are stronger and more powerful than they (or we) know. I want to help them tap into that power and find their inner leader.

I’m developing a program for girls (launching this fall) designed to do just that.

If you have a daughter and can relate to what I’m saying, I’m asking you a favor. In order to make this program as effective as possible, I’d love to hear what your daughter is struggling with and what you want for her.

If you’d be willing to have a brief (~15 minute), confidential phone conversation with me, I’d be most appreciative. You can reply below with your email and I will email you, or Facebook message me (please let me know you did so by replying below), or email me directly at [email protected].

Please feel free to share this far and wide with those you think would be interested.

Thanks!

I've been thinking lately about friendships and authentic connection, especially when it comes to parenting.

How important is it to you to have a non-judgmental person you fully trust to share your *real* parenting challenges with on a regular basis?

Do you have someone like that? If so, how does talking to them affect your parenting?

How does it feel when you think about "navigating your decisions in life based on how you most want to feel." ?

What a different way of looking at how to live our lives!

Today's a grey, wet day in Central New York. One of those days that reminds me how careful I need to be going into the winter season.

Last winter was very serious situation for me. I thought I had put solid self-care in place, but very suddenly it failed me.

This year I'm getting others involved in setting up my support structures. I'm trying to build a solid support system now, because if you understand depression, you know that once you fall in the hole there is no asking for help.

My family and my business is too important to me to let that happen again this winter. NOURISHing is seriously necessary for my health. My life, really.

That's why I'm running this 31-day challenge. I want to help others make sure they're NOURISHing themselves.

????
What are you doing to put support in place for yourself? Do you find yourself needing extra support in the winter months? How can I help you?

It's "F* it Friday" at b.a.d.momGoodmom!

Mamas, it's so important to say "F* it"and do it!

It's highly recommend by the surgeon general and in all respected medical literature.

Tell me what you'll say "F* it, I'm gonna do it!" to this upcoming week/end.

Or what you said F* it to this past week?

Something fun, scary, challenging, vulnerable, naughty, comforting. It doesn't matter as long as it NOURISHes you!

Please do share!

tiny people...they all look so cute & cuddly... until they turn into head-spinning monsters!

it's thong thursday - your chance to tell us what's up your butt!

even if you think you're the only one, it's highly likely you're not.

come on over to the 'Simple Household, Peaceful Parenting' FB group to share a "vent & release" (u just want to be heard & supported but aren't necessarily looking for feedback) or "throw me a rope" (you're looking for solutions).

all confidential and judgment-free.

i'll do my best to respond to everyone's comment to test if ILU really does apply to all unwanted posterior crevice lodgings.

bring it on!

If you signed up for the NOURISH Challenge and YOU AREN'T RECEIVING YOUR EMAILS, read this:

Here's the deal. I use an email software provider to do these challenges. This allows me to easily email all the people in my challenge without a lot of manual, time-consuming steps. The email sw provider kindly protects you from spam by requiring a confirmation before it will support emails to you. Not-so-kindly, those emails sometimes get lost in the ether :(

I apologize for this. I appreciate you taking your time to sign up for this challenge, and I promise to make it worth your while. I want you to have a positive experience and these technology glitches are frustrating.

If you haven't yet confirmed, there are basically 2 options:
Option 1: Look for the confirmation email (see how below), find it, and click confirm. White list me (see how below) to ensure you get subsequent emails. Receive Day 1 email and enjoy. Good to go :)

Option 2: Try to sign up again today.

If you've confirmed but aren't receiving the emails, look for the Day 1 email (see how below).

How to look for the emails: Look for the email in your Trash and Spam. If it's not there and you have gmail "tabs", look to see if gmail not-so-helpfully sorted the email for you by putting it into one of those tabs. A few people found their email in the 'Promotional' tab. Annoying!! If you find the email, please white list me (see how below).

How to Whitelist Me:
White-listing is basically telling your email provider that I'm a real person you want to receive email from. It's basically adding me to your contacts.

Here's 2 ways to do that in Gmail:

Option 1: Log into your Gmail account and open up one of my emails in your inbox. Hover over my name and a window will pop up. Select "Add to Contacts" to save the sender to your Contacts list.

Option 2: Manually add me to your Contacts list.

Thank you for being patient.

Please don't hesitate to email me directly at [email protected] if I can help you in any way.

It's two for Tuesday at b.a.d.momGoodmom!

Since NOURISHing is the theme for October and we have our upcoming 31-day NOURISH Challenge (sign up below), I want to know:

What are two things that NOURISH you?

Me:
1. the SUN
2. the OCEAN

What about you? (don't think too much, just share!)

Oh mamas, I missed F* it Friday last week. The only thing I said F* it to was my own self-care. And I was a less patient mom because of it.

I'm trying to maintain a balance between exploring what I can do differently next time and making sure I don't beat myself up for it. Trying to stay curious but not mean.

Self-care is essential for me, and to be pro-active about my depression (which is worst in winter), I’m in the process of creating my winter NOURISH plan (kinda like a self-care plan but *better*).

I’m running a 31-day NOURISH Challenge for the month of October, and I’d love to have others to share it with.

If you’re interested in joining me in this (free) challenge, sign up at http://jessryan.com/31-day-nourish-challenge/ !

Our Daughters Need Us

Hi, I’m Jess Ryan, and if you have a daughter who’s making you a little (or a lot!) crazy, I can help.

I’m going to make some guesses about what might be going on.

You love your daughter more than anything.

You want her to be strong. Confident. Independent.
