#3-Establish a plan with the help of expert knowledge.
Healthy people establish a starting point, (think GPS), set reasonable goals and measure progress.

We must get a baseline in order to plot the course. You can't plan where you are going until you know where you are at. From there a map can be created with periodic assessments to ensure progress is being made, this creates accountability and keeps you moving forward.

Healthy people put a lot of value on their health, and this is reflective in consistent, daily choices. They create a plan (essential to success), starting with answering the question, "Why am I doing this?" They schedule their workouts, rest, meal prep etc. and set boundaries around these essential tasks to reach the goals they set.

While your genes may be passed down from your parents and grandparents, so too might your lifestyle choices. Your partner may have as much of an impact on your longevity as your parents, due to the lifestyle choices you make together.

A midlife switch between the ages of 45 and 64 to even just the barest of minimums—at least five daily servings of fruits and vegetables, walking about 20 minutes a day, maintaining a healthy weight, and not smoking—resulted in a substantial reduction in mortality even in the immediate future. Overall, those making healthier choices may have nearly 80 percent less chronic disease risk, including slashing diabetes risk by 93 percent, dropping heart attack risk by 81 percent, cutting stroke risk in half, and reducing cancer risk by 36 percent.

Don’t wait, though. No matter your age, it's always a good time to start making healthier lifestyle choices. Every year in the United States alone, there are half a million heart attacks, half a million strokes, a million new cases of diabetes, and a million new cancer diagnoses.
The potential for preventing chronic diseases with lifestyle is enormous.
