BREATHE EASY: Best Practices for Respiratory Vaccine Inventory Management
September 17 @ 7:00 am – 7:30 am
Respiratory season is here — are you ready? Last year, Washington lost nearly $7 million in wasted flu, COVID, and nirsevimab doses. With over 2 million doses of nirsevimab expiring this fall, we can’t afford to repeat the same mistakes.

Join WCAAP for a 30-minute practical webinar that builds on DOH’s vaccine inventory trainings.

We’ll show you:

How to put DOH tools into practice
Strategies to right-size your orders
How your clinic can reduce waste while keeping vaccines available for patients when they need them most.
📅 Date: September 17, 2025
🕘 Time: 7:00-7:30 AM
📍 Location: Online

Together, let’s protect patients and preserve Washington’s universal vaccine program.

Last week WCAAP and Seattle Children’s FAST team of Drs. Jessica Jeness, Kate Benjamin, China Bolden Jarvis held the First Approach Skills Training - Behavior Basics (FAST-B) training targeted for community health workers and other mental health care providers. The goal of the training was to equip care providers to empower parents and caregivers to manage challenging behavior like arguing, tantrums, and big emotions in children ages 4-12.

The training covered key skills for engaging caregivers in video-guided care through asynchronous FAST-B curriculum such as motivational interviewing, stages of change, and validation. We also reviewed strategies for rapport building and cultural humility through breakout sessions.

Over the weekend, we had an amazing gathering of 35 pediatric residents interested in working together to speak up for kids. They gathered to share ideas, Potbelly sandwiches, and why this is personal for them.

Organized by the incredible 3rd year AAP resident reps, with a special shout out to Dr Nahee Park, AAP rep for her organizational prowess. Thanks to Dr Crystal Shen, co-chair of the WCAAP legislative advocacy committee, and support from the WCAAP and the Sperring Fund, hosted by AAP President Dr. Beth Ebel, who now feels so much better about the future.
