๐Ÿ’ก Ever wondered how started? ๐Ÿ’ก

Thanks to a visionary group of palliative care researchers, led by Prof. Peter Hudson ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ and Prof. Joachim Cohen ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช.

๐ŸŒ Seizing an opportunity via EU/Horizon 2020, they embarked on a mission to enhance the well-being of advanced cancer patients and their caregivers. ๐Ÿค Their journey is rooted in the groundbreaking work of Prof. Laurel Northouse and her team at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, creators of the original FOCUS intervention.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโš•๏ธ Now, DIAdIC stands as a testament to collaborative research, building on a foundation of innovation and compassion. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make a meaningful impact! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ”ฌ

๐ŸŒ is one of the EU-funded projects that is breaking new ground in cancer care support. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™ For this reason, we would like to introduce our innovative strategy: .

โœจ This strategy provides the person with cancer and their caregiver access to four online sessions over a period of three months.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฅ The importance of providing support remotely has already been highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. This option, that fits well in the era of telemedicine, helps in the delivery of a psycho-social intervention via a computer programme.

๐Ÿ’ก The beauty of this approach? It is not just effective; it is potentially more cost-efficient too. ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ’ฐ By harnessing the power of technology, we are making quality cancer care accessible to all, regardless of location.

๐ŸŒ Especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for remote support has never been more evident. DIAdIC is at the forefront, adapting to the times and ensuring uninterrupted care for those who need it most. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿค

๐ŸŒŸ From , we are happy to introduce our FOCUS+ Strategy ๐ŸŒ

๐Ÿค What is FOCUS+:
A specially trained nurse conducts three extensive consultations with the patient-caregiver dyad over three months, often in the patient's home. FOCUS+ aims to enhance communication, boost resilience, find meaning in the illness experience, and improve coping skills.

๐Ÿ’ก Training for Success:
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the DIAdIC Study Training Team, a comprehensive e-learning platform was developed to provide training to our amazing nurses. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, they mastered the FOCUS+ intervention within their own countries.

๐ŸŒ Global Collaboration:
Nurses from six countries unite in our Community of Practice Programme, fostering regular knowledge exchange. This global collaboration ensures a wealth of insights and experiences, enhancing the effectiveness of FOCUS+.

๐Ÿ‘ Meet the DIAdIC Study Training Team:
- Prof. Kevin Brazil and Dr. David Scott from Queenโ€™s University Belfast
- Professor Laurel Northouse, Bonnie Dockham, Julie Walker, and Ann Schafenacker from the University of Michigan.
๐Ÿซ‚ Their dedication has paved the way for innovation and transformative care ๐Ÿซ‚

Join us on this journey as we revolutionise patient care and caregiving with FOCUS+! ๐Ÿ’™ ๐ŸŒŸ
