Sara Weand, LPC

Sara Weand, LPC DBT Therapist in private practice specializing in borderline personality disorder & anxiety. You've often wondered if you're going crazy. People don't get it.

Your relationships are falling apart, you're anxious all the time, & your whole life has become an out-of-control, big f*cking mess. You don't understand why relationships have to be so hard and cause you so much pain. You realize that you've definitely acted like it. They don't get that when you've been hurt, your emotions literally take over, consuming you and everything you do. You don't get why you care so much. You're desperate for approval from others and yet you're so terrified that if they really knew what inside, they wouldn't want to be around you, or worse, wouldn't love you anymore. As a DBT therapist, I specialize in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy to adults with Borderline Personality Disorder, who suffer from debilitating anxiety & panic, and who are stuck in their past trauma. When you work with me, I can help you get relief from your emotional suffering, keep relationships, and solve the problems in your life causing you so much pain. You are not doomed to be this way for the rest of your life. As a DBT therapist, I get it. I get that you're desperate to improve and yet despite trying really, really, hard, you remain miserable and in pain. There is hope. You can learn practical ways to effectively regulate your out-of-control emotions, deal with overwhelming anxiety, and manage those crazy-making relationships. If you're ready to get out of emotional hell and work with a DBT therapist who isn't silently judging you, reach out today. I offer free video consultations for DBT therapy. ✈️ Family vacation coming up — and you're already bracing for impact? ✈️

Trips with loved ones can be filled with laughter and memory-making… but if you’re living with borderline personality disorder (BPD), they can also bring emotional chaos. 😵‍💫

Unspoken expectations. Old family dynamics. Feeling misunderstood or on edge. It’s a lot.

In my latest blog post, I break down why family trips can be so emotionally triggering — and how DBT skills can help you stay grounded, present, and connected (without losing your cool).

Learn how to:
🌿 Set realistic expectations
🧠 Use mindfulness to stay present
🛑 Avoid impulsive reactions
💬 Communicate your needs clearly

🎙 New on the blog — I had the chance to join Dustin Oliver on the Boy Meets Therapy podcast to talk about how Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can truly help people living with anxiety and borderline personality disorder (BPD).

We covered what DBT really looks like in everyday life, how it helps with panic and emotional dysregulation, and what recovery can actually look like.

🔥 Feeling emotionally overheated this summer? 🔥

Sunshine and social events can look fun from the outside, but inside, you might feel like you’re on the verge of melting down. If you live with borderline personality disorder (BPD), summer stress can hit differently.

Whether it’s a family BBQ, a packed concert, or a canceled trip that leaves you in tears, staying regulated in the heat of the moment takes real skill.

In my latest blog, I walk you through how to:
☀️ Recognize emotional “heatwaves” before they hit
❄️ Cool down fast using DBT temperature-based skills
🌊 Ride the waves of emotion instead of drowning in them

Learn how DBT can help you stay steady, even when emotions are scorching.

Sometimes it may seem like things won’t ever get better.
Like, no matter how hard you try, things haven’t changed — and you’re stuck.
Maybe you’ve been working so hard on yourself.
Maybe you’ve been showing up, even when it’s hard.
And still… it doesn’t feel like enough.

🖤 Healing isn’t linear. Growth isn’t always loud. And sometimes, progress hides in the smallest of wins.

✨ Don’t forget to celebrate how far you’ve come.

Even if you’re not “there” yet.
Even if it still hurts.
Even if you’ve had setbacks.
You’re still here. You’re still trying. That matters.

Celebrating today because I finally launched my video series that I’ve been working on for a year!! 🎉 You can check it out on !

Whether or not you’ve done anything big recently, take time today to celebrate how far you’ve come. You’re not the same person you were a year ago!! 👏

🎙️ Mental health isn't his usual content. Loren made space for this & I'm so grateful. 🎙️

I recently joined my longtime friend, Loren Lepre—founder of Average Superstar Films and host of Average Superstar TV—for a real conversation about Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), stigma, and the power of DBT to create real change.

This episode was a shift from Loren’s usual focus on film, wrestling, & TV—and that made it even more meaningful.

We talk about what BPD really is (and isn’t), why it’s so misunderstood, and how DBT helps people build a life worth living.

Sometimes the most loving thing someone can do is to just sit in shared silence; being comfortable in silence. It’s the person who doesn’t say anything; who simply just sits and listens quietly; who makes you feel heard; to feel seen; to feel valued; to feel loved. Here’s to the priceless value of simply “sharing space”. I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.

🎙️ I recently had the chance to talk with my dear friend, Loren W. Lepre of Average Superstar T.V. to talk about my work as a DBT therapist, providing treatment for borderline personality disorder.💬
This conversation was especially meaningful, as Loren and I go way back—25 years, to be exact—to our days working together at Hot Topic (yes, that Hot Topic). It’s wild and wonderful how things come full circle.

🎧 Tune in to hear our conversation and learn more about why this work means so much to me.
