The GRADE research study is seeking volunteers to help discover which of four FDA approved and commonly prescribed diabetes medications, when added to metformin (Glucophage ®) is best at treating type 2 diabetes. The study will last 4-7 years with study visits four times per year (quarterly). The GRADE study is seeking participants at medical centers all over the United States. The GRADE research study may be right for you. You may be eligible to participate if you:
• Have had type 2 diabetes for less than 10 years
• Were 30 years or older when you were diagnosed, 20 years or older if American Indian
• Are taking only metformin (Glucophage ®) to treat your diabetes
• Are willing to consider adding a second diabetes medication to your metformin
All participants in the GRADE study will receive:
• Close follow-up from an expert diabetes care team
• All diabetes medications, supplies, exams, lab tests and diabetes education at no charge
