T1D's Best Friend Diabetic Alert Dogs (DAD) are invaluable to T1D's. As I work towards getting my DAD, I share my experiences in hope to help others do the same.

I am posting my journey to obtain and train a Diabetes Service Dog (or DAD). For many adults with T1D, holding fundraisers and getting the money, aid, training, etc. that we need can feel impossible. While it is still difficult for children with T1D to obtain the funds they need for service dogs, it is even harder to gain the compassion of others once we are adults and no longer as cute as we used to me, although I believe I am still pretty darned cute! My hope is to not only raise awareness about how beneficial a service dog can be for diabetics, to raise the money and resources I need to obtain one myself, I also want to give a platform to others that are trying to do the same thing as I am. Hopefully, I am successful and others can learn how they can also be successful in their efforts as well.
