A recent study published in Neurology found that just a 10% increase in ultra-processed food intake raised the risk of cognitive decline by 16% and stroke by 8%.
These foods, like sugary snacks, instant noodles, and soft drinks, are engineered to be hyper-palatable with a long shelf life but often lack essential nutrients and contain unhealthy fats, sugars, and sodium.
Participants who consumed more ultra-processed foods showed faster declines in memory, attention, and executive function.
