𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙄 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙖 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙁𝙞𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙧 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙄𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙧?⁣

This is a question I get asked ALL THE TIME. I personally recommend both. I'm Meg from 😃⁣

Filters clean the water, but that's it. ⁣

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.⁣

👉🏼 There are tons of different filters to choose from, and you'll want to get a report showing which contaminants are high in your area.⁣

Water ionizers, on the other hand, create ANTIOXIDANTS, which are super important for preventative health.⁣

There are lots of water filtration products out there. And most of them bash each other.⁣

Out of these 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘴 of options, there is only ONE certified medical-grade water 𝘔𝘈𝘊𝘏𝘐𝘕𝘌. ⁣

🙌 Certified medical-grade water has been used in hospitals throughout Japan for almost 50 years. ⁣

❗️Bottled water has been shown to have dangerous cancer causing chemicals that disrupt hormones and cause chronic illness.⁣

If you're serious about lowtox loving, start with filtered water. THEN think about an ionizer... you can also replace a TON of household products w/ ionized water!⁣

(We'll get into that 👆🏼👆🏼later this afternoon.)⁣

What kind of water filter or ionizer do you use? Do you use both?⁣

MAKE THE SWITCH TO AN OIL CLEANSER ⁣

My first, easy, non tox skin switch of the week!

You heard it here: you don’t need harsh face washer and cleansers!

You all know I’m am totally obsessed with oil cleansing. I’m a complete convert and will convince every single person I come across to give it a go. ⁣

It has completely changed my skin and I really believe it’s because my skin is after years of having harsh, damaging, toxins put on it, it now loves the simple and natural. ⁣

I will say though, your skin is completely different to mine so I will never say what works for me, will work for you, because that may not be the case. You need to know and understand your skin, look at what it needs and what you need to do to get it back to it’s best possible self. I often find that people transitioning to low tox products have believed they have been a “skin type” their entire life and it isn’t until they remove the products their skin completely changed. But it’s such an easy transition & one that has so many benefits.

I also constantly see people forgetting that carrier oils have just as many if not more unique properties an essential oils. So picking them in itself is a really important part to your oil cleansing. From there picking essential oils to support and help your skin so it can rejuvenate, recover and really thrive is so important. ⁣

The best way to start your oil cleansing process is picking one carrier oil and one essential oil for your skin type and give it a go. ⁣Its that simple!

A few examples of some I have made recently are:⁣

1. Organic Apricot kernel oil with lemon myrtle, lavender & some vitamin e ⁣
2. On days when my skin feels more dry - Avocado oil & cucumber oil with Cedarwood & green mandarin ⁣
3. Today I made one with apricot kernel oil, vitamin e oil and lemon eucalyptus oil. ⁣

Who has made the swap? Who wants to? And who need help making their oil cleanser?

The less toxin life ⁣

Introducing our new name 👋🏽 ⁣

Today we say goodbye to our name Essentially Waste Free. The name just didn’t fit us anymore or feel like it reflected our page, what we are doing and where we are going. ⁣

It’s been a while in the making but we have a new name. We are so excited to announce we are now “the less toxin life”. We think it’s fits perfectly. ⁣

We feel it incorporates everything this page is about and the community we have created. ⁣

We love that we can bring so many different people together that reduce toxins in their lives in so many different ways. We love how there is no right way to reduce toxins and that we are all in this together - learning, researching, sharing and educating. ⁣

We look forward to the future of our little platform and all the friends we make along the way. ⁣
Thank you for being here and showing your support. ⁣

DIY Bath Salts 🌹⠀

When it's cold and rainy, I love nothing more than to relax in a hot steamy bath. It's not often that I get the chance to do it being a busy mum but when my husband is home, I really try to make time for a little self-care. Simply adding salts to my bath makes this rare occasion extra special as they smell amazing and help me to relax, leaving me feeling totally refreshed afterwards.⠀

Ingredients:⠀
💖 1 cup epsom salts ⠀
💖 1/2 cup bicarb soda ⠀
💖 1/2 cup pink himalayan salt flakes⠀
💖 Dried flower petals (optional but make it so pretty!)⠀
💖 5-10 drops of essential oils of choice (I usually use the lavender peace blend because it's super calming and smells beautiful)⠀

Mix all the ingredients together and keep it in a jar. Scoop a tablespoon or so into your bath. Pure bliss 🌹👌⠀

We absolutely love this post by ❤️ about the importance of Vitamin D
・・・
Did you know that Vitamin D plays a role in regulating our sleep, immune system function, we need it for hormone balance, healthy skin, brain function, cholesterol, thyroid health and even gut health?! Researchers have discovered that Vitamin D helps to keep the microbes in our gut healthy & happy because it increases the number and diversity of microbes living in our gut, which together reduce inflammation throughout the body 🔥⁣

Those of you who are lucky enough to have beautiful dark skin or are naturally olive (not me unfortunately) are at a slight disadvantage when it comes to Vitamin D. Roy (who has dark skin) needs 4-6x more time in the sun to produce the same amount of Vitamin D as me (a very pale person). That’s because higher concentrations of melanin block the sun’s UVB rays.⁣

Clearly Vitamin D plays a huge role in our health, and it’s important to maintain sufficient levels. While sun exposure is the best source of Vitamin D, the reality is, it’s currently winter. Our bodies don’t make much Vitamin D during winter (swipe to see image from ), however, we can still get significant amounts from these foods;⁣

COD LIVER OIL⁣
cod liver oil contains one of nature’s best sources of Vitamin D3 in the cholecalciferol form - the form of Vitamin D we make when exposed to sunlight⁣

FISH ROE⁣
contain about 17,000 IU of Vitamin D per tablespoon. One tablespoon of fish eggs supplies a similar amount of Vitamin D as a midday dose of Vitamin D on the skin!⁣

LARD (PORK FAT)⁣
is another great source (as long as the pigs are healthy and have had lots of sunlight) it contains 10,000 IU per tablespoon according to tests conducted by 🙌🏻 Plus, this healthy fat is a great alternative for those who are allergic to seafood⁣

Mackerel, sardines, wild salmon and egg yolks from pastured chickens, organic ghee and butter are other great sources of dietary Vitamin D.⁣

By consuming more vitamin D during winter, your gut microbes will be healthier, and you’ll be more resistant to infection and inflammation year round.

Anyone else have a little extra time on their hands? I whipped up this face firming cream last night and it’s absolutely lovely. It was super easy to make and my face feels extra moisturized and smooth this morning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
8 drops Frankincense essential oil
5 drops Lavender essential oil
1/4 cup pure coconut oil
4 oz. glass jar ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Put coconut oil in a glass bowl and use a hand mixer to whip the coconut oil.
2. Add the essential oils to the coconut oil and mix together.
3. Add the mixture to your glass jar and apply a small amount to your face at night.

Making the swap to a natural deodorant is such an important step for our health, thank you to Alexa from for talking about this very topic.

Go check out Alexa's original post on her a account for her in dept detail on Alumium salts, phthalates, fragrance, triclosan and Parabens. (post linked in our stories)

Natural deodorants are buzzy right now for a number of reasons. Whether it’s why we switch in the first place or the ineffectiveness of the natural deodorant, I’m here to cover it all!
First and foremost, when you switch to a natural deodorant it will not stop you from sweating. That is aluminum’s job in an anti-perspirant. Anti-perspirants (like Dove) are actually considered a drug by the FDA! That’s because they perform a biological function which is the plugging of the sweat glads to stop you from sweating. If you can’t quit the drug swipe through the slides for a sad wake up call.
The truth is a lot of these ingredients are low-molecular weight chemicals that are easily absorbed by the skin. The other part we often dismiss is the fact that we shave! Shaving creates micro-cuts in the skin and compromises the stratum corenum (our first layer of denfense) allowing greater quantities of toxic chemicals to make their way into our body.
Our underarms are also home to a number of lymph nodes which are a critical part of our body’s immune system. It transports and processes waste matter from our cells. Don’t you think it’s scary that the most critical part of our body is located right next to an area where we apply offensive chemicals?
If you’re not convinced, let’s touch on sweating! Sweating is an important body function that we should not interfere with! Conventional thinking says we don’t sweat out toxins but that is not the case. There are plenty of evidence based studies that show we are able to sweat out heavy metals & pesticides! How cool!
Who here has switched to a natural deodorant or wants to? What was your process? How did it go? What worked or didn’t work for you? Please share!!
Thank you so much for reading and participating!! Xoxo alexa

I must admit about 5-6 years ago I was obsessed with fragrance filled candles and room sprays that I thought smelled lovely. Little did I know back then the scent was artificial and was doing terrible things for my health, hormones and respiratory system and setting off my hay fever. When we know better we do better.. so here is a quick diy!
Room spray, couch spray, air freshener, linen spray.. all with one thing in common. NON TOXIC. Smells amazing and as a bonus your getting the aromatic physical and emotional properties from the plant oils themselves!
Here are a few of my fav combos!
🌱|fresh sheets| Lemon + Lavender.
🌱|fresh air| Purify + Lemon.
🌱|intimacy| 😉 Ylang Ylang + Passion.
🌱|sweet dreams| Lavender Peace/Serenity + Cedarwood.
Spray the air as an air freshener or your bedding before sleep. I also love to spray the clothing on the line before brining it in to fold. Smells divine!
100ml glass spray bottle
10-30 drops of essential oil (pending how strong you want the scent.
Dash of witch hazel or salt as a natural preservative.
Top with cool boiled water.
One spray.. so many uses! Tag a friend!

Have you heard this from your clients, patients, or audience?

This is a pretty common response to hearing about toxic chemicals used in consumer products.

A few points to consider making when you do hear people say this:

1. "YOU might be fine, but collectively WE - meaning people - are not fine."

Rates of chronic disease are going through the roof and chemicals are playing a big role in the development or exacerbation of those conditions.

Also, consider that most people's version of "fine" is still pretty crap! This happens when we confused common with normal - everyone feels a little sh*tty, so I guess that's normal! 🤷🏼

2. We're dealing with far more chemicals in the marketplace now than we ever have before. Older generations simply weren't exposed to the kinds or number of toxins that we are now.

How do you handle it when clients push back with a comment like this?

Have you found another way to shift their perspective on this?

Lemme know in the comments!

I'm seeing people panicking because 'staple' are flying off the shelf, I understand this can be super stressful.

There is a solution, opt for reusable/cloth, it's super easy to do, saves you SO SO much money and you never have to worry about running out again.

If you've been watching my stories you'll see I made up some multi use wipes to have on hand. I've been using reusables for most stuff for a few years now so it's not out of my comfort zone. What can we use these for?
• Tissues
• Baby Wipes
• Surface Wipes
• Mulipurpose wipes
• Hand wipes
• Make up Wipes
• To clean up spills
• Family cloth (if you're keen for that)

All i used was some scrap fabric in my sewing draw, you could also cut up some old clothes, sheets, towels and sewn the edges. Some if have left as 1ply and others i did 2ply for things like tissues and spills i prefer a thicker cloth whereas hand wipe and so on I find 1ply is great! Don't worry if you're not great a sewing, trust me neither am I, some of mine are pretty dodgy but they do the job! 🤣

Check out a few posts back for my DIY mulipurpose wipes, Would you like me to share my DIY make up wipes recipe? let me know int he comments below. 👇

Having clean products in our home is worth every. single. penny. we spend on them! I’ll always do whatever it takes to keep the good stuff in our home, while also experimenting and finding ways to make the good stuff last as long as possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We use Thieves dishwasher powder as the base to our detergent when we wash our dishes because 1. It cleans my dishes like a freaking pro. 2. It doesn’t leave my dishes coated with stinky chemicals and fragrances. 3. I’m not compromising my health and well-being when I use it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I recently experimented and discovered this little trick to getting TWICE as much out of my Thieves dishwashing powder, and it’s freaking awesome! Here’s what you need 👇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 Bag of Thieves Dishwasher Powder
1 Cup Sodium Carbonate ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mix the sodium carbonate (this is not sodium bicarbonate - baking soda, but sodium carbonate - washing soda) with the thieves dishwasher powder - Boom! You’ve just doubled your supply of the best dishwashing powder on the planet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’re welcome.
