10:30 AM Feeling like an elephant was on my chest, late for the doctor

12:00 PM Talking to the doctor about no improvement in my PFT after another 4 weeks on new meds. More prescriptions, back on prednisone and antibiotics for the third time in about 4 months.

1:00 PM Bloodwork. Terrible stick

2:00 PM Pick Up Scripts

3:00 PM Pick up lunch & see granddad

4:00 PM Eat in frustration and begin to do research and figure out a plan

5:00 PM Cry and nap

6:00 PM Massage and reset

7:00 PM Arrive at health food store ready to take on trying new things, reviving old things….

So….I doctored. I gave all my blood. I cried. I napped/ I remembered. I massaged. I resolved. Then I carried my wonderful self to the health food store to make these adjustments. Casein protein and peas are two items that I found out are deep in my diet and I have allergies.

So…I’m doing something about it.

Nutrition. I remember me. 2023 was full of transition, triumph and a couple tragic moments, if I’m honest. The swift transitions. New home. New job. Flooded home. Sometimes chaotic job. New gym. New grocery store. New routines. New patterns. New ways of being. Let’s just say I didn’t plan for how my consumption and overall nutrition would be affected. Home under saw dust; order Door Dash. Super tired from all the things, carry out; carry out; carry out.

2024 has focused on recalibration. I can give up laundry or even cleaning, but I enjoy the process of cooking and creating. Even more, creating healthy meals that just plain delicious.

So…here goes my restart. Meal prepping; consistent nutrition. These are super simple and yummy—oven roasted cauliflower and balsamic Brussel sprouts.

There is a season for everything. As I recalibrate my physiological needs for this season, I find the need to get re-rooted in my natural roots.

I got lost in the health food store this afternoon adding natural substances to my toolbox to help my body recover from everyday stress.

I am proud of the adjustments that I am making to ensure that I am and living into my value of

The nutritionist was amazing and provided information and caution. My hope is that with more tools at my disposal I can better manage asthma and anxiety symptoms as I strengthen my immune system.

Journey to 40.
Chile, I’m fixing to be 40 in about 6 months. I’ve been busy doing the people’s work and taking care of the people and I have not been doing the best with caring for my full self.

This is my confessional. I’ve forgiven myself in private but I also committed to sharing my own journey because health equity and access is soooo important.

So, about today….I’m seeing the pulmonologist/immunologist to get a better understanding of my allergies and overall lung function.

My PFT is much better 10 days into treatment anddddd we just discovered that I’m allergic to things that are in my normal diet.

Knowledge is power….I’ll be back.
