I learned how to swim during a sport excursion to the local swimming pool. I was in 7th grade.
As we entered the pool area, feeling my heart racing, I quietly told the teacher I couldn't swim.
The teacher set out some tasks for the other children and then turned to me, asking me to stand on the edge of the pool.
He commented about technique and then a loud "Jump".
My heart was beating like crazy, I paused, took a deep breath (almost sensing it could be my last) and I jumped, or should I say a 'belly whacker". Haha...
I managed to make it to the other side of the pool somehow. Thinking:" Well, I did that and that's that! I hear the teacher's voice, demanding to stand on the edge of the 1m jumping board.
He said jump and swim. Panic and freeze was no option. Scared out of my wits I jumped and swam.
Afterwards the teacher congratulated me and said:
"You have two option: Give in to fear and don't jump or you take a leap of faith and you trust that you can." A proud moment.

Amazing things can happen or surface when we dive deep into the unknown. It's a great feeling of self discovery and our abilities.
