Baker Institute Student Forum Undergraduate Public Policy Conference Submit your policy proposal on how to
best address the costs, coverage and quality of health care in
the United States. Email them to bisf@rice.edu.

You could be one of 15 finalists selected to
present their policy papers to a panel of experts at Rice
University’s Baker Institute! Competition Rules:
Either individually or in groups of up to 3, submit a 3,000 to 6,000 word proposal on how to best improve health care in the United States. Address quality, cost, and access but pick any aspect of health care that you want. The top 15 finalists will compete at the Baker Institute on September 21st, 2013. Finalists will give 10 minute presentations to a panel of judges from the Texas medical community and then be honored at an open house gala. Finalists must also bring a research poster which they will display at the open house gala on the evening of September 21st. Proposals must include an abstract, a cover page (please print the names of the authors on this page only), and be Times New Roman, 12 point font, and double spaced. Papers will be accepted from May 1st to August 15th. This competition is open to all full- or part-time students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university (including current seniors). The top three winners will receive cash prizes! Tentative prizes are:
-First Place: $2.500
-Second Place: $2,000
-Third Place: $1,500

Submission Window: May 1-August 1, 2013
Notification of Finalists: August 15, 2013
Competition: September 20-21, 2013
