According to the Alzheimer's association:
High blood pressure may increase dementia risk for women
Women who develop high blood pressure in their 40s may be more vulnerable to dementia later in life, a new study shows. Researchers reported that the increased risk could be as high as 73 percent. While additional research is necessary, the findings suggest that high blood pressure may play a role in brain health earlier than previously thought. Men in this study did not have a similar risk from high blood pressure in their 40s, which also deserves further investigation. alzheimers_enews@alz.org
