Waheguru!

We've all KEPT UP this year. In Kundalini Yoga, the saying goes "Keep up and you will be kept up!"

Basically, when we keep up our yoga and meditation practice, it will take care of us.

What you put in, you get out.

Today at 1pm EST time, I'll be joining the Kundalini Yoga class with Sat Shakti, Founder and Director of JOY Yoga!

Details below.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year! Cheers to 2021.

WE’VE KEPT UP

As we always say: “Keep up and you will be KEPT up!”

Well, yogis, you’ve done it. You’ve certainly kept up this year! We are chanting Wahe Guru! from the rooftop of our Dalston studio. Not literally but certainly in spirit! Wahe Guru is the mantra for victory and for moving from darkness to light and we couldn’t think of a better mantra to shout at this time. So, celebrate this huge victory of surviving 2020 with us. Let’s meditate and open up to new possibilities. Let’s set intentions to keep up EVEN more in 2021.

For all the challenges of 2020, there were also sweet spots along with opportunities for letting go, learning new paradigms, connecting with others in different ways, shifting priorities, and so on. For all the challenges and upheaval. You made it through. And you’re stronger because of it. This is a time to celebrate. Celebrate your strength, your resilience, your ability to keep up. For all the dark moments, you kept going. And you’re still here. Wahe Guru!

Sat Shakti will lead us through a kundalini yoga and meditation class to open your heart, acknowledge the strength and resilience that carried you through the year, and let go of what no longer serves you. After class, send off 2020 and open up to the possibilities that lie ahead. Immerse yourself in a selection of heart-opening, soul-soothing mantras, chanting along with Earth Mantra (Vaishnavi Brassey and Amy Bisazza).

One of the first Kundalini mantras I learned is Sat Nam. It's simple. It's powerful. It awakens us to our inner truth.

It's also a greeting. It's the seed word of Namaste.

AWAKEN YOUR SOUL 🤸⁣

You’ve likely heard the mantra ‘Sat Nam’ spoken at least once during a kundalini yoga class. It may be one of the shortest mantras we have in kundalini yoga but like a seed, it holds an enormous amount of wisdom. ⁣

Otherwise known as the seed of truth, this short and sweet mantra reinforces the divine consciousness in everyone. It is used as a greeting as well as the mantra for Kundalini Yoga exercises, inhaling Sat (truth), exhaling Nam (name, identity).⁣

Try saying it as you walk and with each step, mentally chant ‘sat’, and then ‘nam’ with another step. Or say it as you’re cooking or preparing to speak to your colleagues or neighbours. It’s one we can always remember and access when we need a focus point or to be reminded of our inner divinity.⁣

As we’ve just passed the new moon and head into the Winter Solstice next week, this is a perfect time to plant new seeds. Reflect on what we want to grow in the new year.⁣

What is your favourite way to use sat nam?⁣

Canadian classes are coming!

They will be in the Canadian time zone and in Canadian currency. I’m very much enjoying teaching my UK students but wanted to also offer something to those in Canada — back home where I’m living now!

I’m thinking for sure a Sunday morning kundalini class but let me know in the comments if there’s another day or time you prefer for class.

Stay tuned! ✨ Sat Nam

THE BEST RELATIONSHIP ⁣

The most important, more precious, and most magical relationship we will ever experience is the one between us and our spirit. ⁣

The day we accept our soul as the part of us the is eternal, the part of us that glows, the part of us that sparkles with true love, joy, compassion, and kindness. ⁣

When we rush, force, and push life to happen, we miss this chance of a lifetime to experience our own bliss. ⁣

That feeling of being alone with ourselves. Not needing anything. Not needing a guarantee of anything. Just being. ⁣

This is true bliss ✨⁣

One way to be present to the bliss that exists when we just BE, is to meditate. ⁣

Tomorrow brings TWO opportunities to meditate online with me: ⁣

Mind Booster ⁣
5:30-6 pm UK time / 12:30-1 pm EST time⁣

Meditation ⁣
8-9 pm UK time / 3-4 pm EST time ⁣

Book your space at the link in my bio. ✨⁣

This meditation was actually the first one I taught back in 2016 at the start of my teaching journey!

And today we’re sharing it on JOY Yoga 💓

DO IT WITH A CALM HEART⁣

When the pressures that can come with this time of year become too much, try this. The Calm Heart Meditation helps us take a pause, connect with our breath and our heart, and reset our mood. It helps us feel steady amidst chaos.⁣

If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, step away for a couple of minutes, and try this: ⁣

• Sit comfortably with a straight spine and let your eyes close⁣
• Place your left hand on the centre of your chest (the heart centre); your fingers should be parallel to the ground.⁣
• The right arm is bent with your elbow at your side and your hand in gyan mudra (index and thumb touching) at shoulder level⁣
• Inhale deeply and hold for as long as you comfortably can⁣
• Exhale slowly and completely then hold the breath out for as long as you comfortably⁣
can⁣
• Continue for 3-5 minutes⁣

Have you tried this meditation before?⁣
