Me, Myself, and I! My story....
đŸ©·Vulnerability is my 2024 word. I absolutely LOVE my work as a Health Coach and am so grateful I get to help people become better versions of themselves. I am certainly being tested with my illness, but learning and growing my mindset has been so instrumental in my well-being and continues to keep me sane! (most days! đŸ€Ș)

In the fast-paced world we live in, it's easy to fall into the trap of considering rest as a luxury we can't afford. The constant hustle and bustle, coupled with societal pressures to keep pushing ourselves to the limit, can make us overlook one of the most crucial aspects of our overall well-being: rest. Let's take a moment to shift our perspective and truly understand why rest is not just a nice-to-have, but an absolute necessity for our physical, mental, and emotional health.

Physical Restoration: Our bodies are intricate systems that require proper maintenance to function optimally. Sleep, the ultimate form of rest, plays a vital role in allowing our bodies to repair and rejuvenate.

Mental Clarity: Just like a computer needs regular updates and restarts to perform at its best, our minds require downtime to process information and recharge.

Emotional Resilience: Lack of rest can take a toll on our emotional well-being. Sleep deprivation has been linked to increased irritability, mood swings, and heightened stress levels.

Overall Productivity: Counterintuitive as it may seem, overworking and neglecting rest can actually lead to a decrease in productivity. Pushing ourselves beyond our limits might result in short bursts of output, but in the long run, it leads to burnout, decreased efficiency, and even physical health issues.

In a world that glorifies busyness, it's essential to recognize that rest is not a sign of weakness, but a badge of wisdom. It's a deliberate choice to honor our bodies and minds, allowing them to function at their best. So, let's start reframing our perspective on rest. Let's celebrate it as an essential pillar of self-care, a fundamental right that empowers us to lead more vibrant, balanced lives

Meet Pat. Pat’s label was IBS and she has had it for years, it wasn’t new . . . but it was now “Irritating and painful” most days and Pat wasn’t a complainer.

Most people think that taking antibiotics will help them with their allergy/cold/flu/sinus symptoms and at least they "couldn't hurt."
This couldn't be further from the truth. In addition to increasing antibiotic resistance, you are also destroying your gut microbiome which can lead to a whole multitude of problems.

Here are some important facts to keep in mind:
100% of seasonal allergies do not require antibiotics ( I know it has been a long season.

Between 90-98% of sinusitis infections are viral and won't respond to antibiotics.
Only 5-10% of sore throat cases in adults are caused by strep throat, and most adults don't even need antibiotics for this!

April is Stress Awareness Month Even though the link between chronic stress and fatigue has been well established, fatigue still remains in the top 10 of all patient complaints during primary care visits. Fatigue can often be attributed to organic causes - physiologic stressors like hypothyroid, depression, or autoimmune diseases - but there are still many other individuals who are otherwise healthy and still exhibit symptoms associated with fatigue. But why?

With so many commonly prescribed medications like antidepressants, blood pressure meds, PPIs, and statins clearly identifying fatigue as a possible side effect, sometimes the treatment becomes the cause and fatigue surfaces once again at the top of the list of priorities.
