Artificial sweeteners are found in so many other brand's protein shakes, but not YUM.

Calories in = calories out.
This is the formula that they say equates to weight loss/gain.
That formula is true...from a technical standpoint. But it's really not that simple.
Weight gain is actually a result of a dysregulation of the hormones that control hunger and fat storage/usage.
There are two main actors in this play. Ghrelin and insulin. Ghrelin controls hunger and insulin controls fat storage.
If your body continues to release ghrelin, you'll always be hungry. You won't be able to achieve the calorie in/out formula. Same with insulin. If your insulin is off, then fat will be stored instead of used for energy and you'll still be hungry.
If you're hungry, you'll eventually give in and eat, even if you know you shouldn't.
It's a cycle that builds on itself.

But there is a way the break it. WHAT you eat, obviously, but also and equally as important is WHEN you eat.
Most of us already know...
If you eat nutritious meals that fill you up, you'll be hungry less. Empty carbs(most of our diets) are burned quickly and you'll be hungry sooner. So eat hearty, nutritious meals.
