Tai Chi looks simple 🌿
One breath 🌬️ one step 👣 one quiet movement
led by the heart ❤️ not by imitation.

It is an unfolding from within 🌱
not performing 🎭 but returning to yourself 🏡

Yet Tai Chi is not easy.
The journey toward simplicity
winds like a river 🌊 circles like the seasons 🍂
and teaches us to slow down and 🐢

Only after letting go of effort
do we rediscover what was always there ✨
calmness 🕊️ balance ⚖️ and life moving naturally again 🌞

Good Morning, Tai Chi! 🌻

Day 2 of Chinese New Year 🌙
A day for reconnection.

In tradition, this is the time to return, to visit, to remember where we come from — not just physically, but energetically.
After the stillness of Day 1, today we gently step back into relationship: with family, with others, and with ourselves.

In Qi Gong and Tai Chi, reconnection begins by softening the body, opening the chest, and allowing breath to lead us back into flow.
When we reconnect, Qi moves.
When Qi moves, life returns.

Reconnection is the real celebration.

Chinese New Year – Day 1 is about not doing, but simply being. 🧧

Traditionally, this is a day to rest, relax, and receive. In some places, people don’t sweep the floor, take out rubbish, or even wash their hair — to avoid “clearing away” the fresh luck of the new year( I mean, my mum at home😆). Instead, we create space for blessings to arrive.

This is exactly the wisdom of Qi Gong:
🌿 Slow down
🌿 Open the body
🌿 Let the Qi flow
🌿 Welcome new energy

I’m sharing 3 gentle Qi Gong routines to help you open, soften, and begin the year grounded and nourished.

Today is Chinese New Year’s Eve — 除夕. 🧧
It’s the most important meal of the year, when families gather, cook together, and welcome the turning of a new cycle.

What’s on your dinner table tonight?

In many homes, this meal is not about luxury, but about meaning:
🥟 Dumplings — for prosperity
🐟 Fish — for abundance (年年有余)
🥬 Greens — for renewal and growth
🍊 Citrus — for good fortune and brightness in the coming year

It’s a time to slow down, share food, and begin the year with warmth in both body and heart.

✨ A little Lunar Calendar fun fact:
Have you noticed that there isn’t always a “30th day” in a lunar month?
That’s because the traditional Chinese calendar follows the actual cycles of the moon. A full lunar cycle is about **29.5 days**, not 30. So months are arranged as either **29 days (小月)** or **30 days (大月)** to stay aligned with the sky.

This month happens to be a 29-day month — which is why New Year arrives without a 30th day!

Just like Tai Chi, the calendar reminds us:
we live by rhythms, not by rigid numbers.

Wishing you a peaceful New Year’s Eve, a nourishing meal, and a gentle beginning to the year ahead. 🌙

✨ Something quietly extraordinary is happening this month…

In mid-February, three ancient traditions align within the same lunar window — each, in its own way, turning toward renewal, reflection, and new beginnings.

Different cultures. Different paths.
Yet all guided by the same rhythm of the moon.

What does this rare moment invite us to notice… or begin?

Read my latest blog:

In mid-February 2026, something quietly extraordinary unfolds. The Chinese Spring Festival (Lunar New Year), Tibetan Losar, and the beginning of Ramadan all arrive within the same lunar window — different cultures, different traditions, yet all turning toward renewal at almost the same moment. **Super Kawakawa Rolling Oil** 🌿

Kawakawa is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most recognised native rākau, known for its distinctive heart-shaped leaves and deep cultural significance. In te ao Māori, kawakawa carries strong wairua and is associated with healing and restoration following the separation of Ranginui and Papatūānuku.

As demand for kawakawa grows commercially, mindful harvesting, observance of tikanga, and sustainable use are increasingly important to protect this treasured plant for future generations.

This small-batch rolling oil is handcrafted from kawakawa respectfully gathered in Akaroa, Te Māra o Tāne — a place rich in ecological and cultural value.

Designed for everyday wellbeing, it can be applied sparingly to support dry or irritated skin, soothe minor discomfort, or as part of a grounding self-care ritual (with an accompanying body map for guidance).

Made with respect for the plant, the land, and a commitment to sustainability. Available at healinghutnz.com
