In the spirit of forgiveness:

Thoughts, conscious or habitual, inform our emotions and actions.

When forgiving myself
(i.e. who I was anytime in history prior to this moment)
I may have a hard time forgiving the ACT I’ve done.

When that happens I try forgiving myself for having the inaccurate thought/belief I had that inspired the action in the first place.

Most likely that thought/belief was created as an instinctive response to a traumatic experience.
