When I chose to live a Wellness First Lifestyle in 2016, it took me a lot of start and stop tries to truly commit.

I had to break down the core of my past actions to support my well-being and find a new path on my wellness journey.

Your wellness is unique to your needs. Likely, you are living the "wellness last lifestyle" vs. putting your well-being in front of the rest of life's challenges.

Today, I live the Wellness First Lifestyle to the fullest.

I make sure to do my wellness activities in the morning before I start my day. I get my million dog walks a day in. I check in with friends more regularly. I have time to read books, take a bath, relax by the pool, and just enjoy life.

Of course you say, but Wendie you're not working right now- how do you expect me to do this?

That's the secret, I am working! Every day! I sometimes work 10-12 hours a day.

Here's how I get my wellness first lifestyle to work out even while building a business:

1) Start my day with a mile+ walk (20-45 mins)
2) Workout before I start work (45 mins max)
3) Take breaks every 2 hours, walk around, do some house work, chill (15-20 mins 2x a day)
4) Set aside at least an hour in the evening for my wellness activities and wind down (1 hour)

For approximately 2.5 hours a day focusing on my well-being vs. stressing and avoiding things I need to do... I've completely revolutionized how I feel every day.

I spend less time worrying about things and more time infusing the things I love doing in my schedule. That's the commitment I've made to myself.

You don't need to commit 2.5 hours a day! You can live a Wellness First Lifestyle, as long as you choose to identify time each day to dedicate to your well-being.

Networking is back!

So thrilled to attend the TMC War Room Reception last night!

The Texas Medical Center (TMC) has been the conveyor of health experts, hospital CEOs, political leaders, and public health officials for the past year. Via Zoom this group has tackled a pandemic and planning for 4.7 million people.

Here is part of the public health with Mayor Sylvester Turner. He spoke about how Houston always has stormy times but the sun eventually comes out. TMC CEO Bill McKeon recognized me from my zoom photo and bio- and we had to take a selfie in front of the Thank You with all the faces of the collective who made this possible.

A few networking tips-

-In a crowd with wealthy and important people... get over your imposter syndrome! You’re in the room because you deserve to be in the room and they are regular people too.
-Returning to socializing without masks IS scary, so make sure you can trust the crowd. (In this case medical professionals made it very comfortable)
-You don’t have to wear black! I chose blue and rocked blue eyeshadow. I even overheard one of the hospital CEOs in awe of my makeup matching my dress 😉
-Always introduce yourself to people you don’t know and those you recognize from Zoom but haven’t met IRL.
-Set a goal # of people to meet and once you w done it, just enjoy end hang out with your homies. My goal was to meet 3 specific people on my list - the guy who owns the soccer team, the woman who I email all the time, and Bill. Beyond that all the other folks were the icing on the cake.

Happy networking!! Hope you get to meet your Mayor soon!

Cultivating my home office garden... ⁣

These were all bought to go to my office office- but I really live them at home and they bring so much peace while on calls all day. ⁣

This is my first Bonsai that I’m starting from scratch vs the two I killed before that were given to me. I hope I don’t kill this one! ⁣

Stories like these from my network around the country are scary, yet, inspiring.

Continue to check your temperature and know your body’s normal and abnormal reactions. Seek care and know that everyone is overwhelmed but insist on care when you know the symptoms are too much and getting dangerous to be at home in quarantine. And know that people can recover.

So many Americans believe that only the elderly and the immunocompromised are capable of contracting and becoming gravely ill from Covid-19. I, too, believed I was invincible until I saw a social media post written by a high school classmate, Tiffany Vega-Gibson.
