Today marks the start of World Music Therapy Week 🎶

Over the next week, we’re celebrating the power of music therapy and its ability to connect, support and transform lives.

At Ace Music Therapy CIC, we see every day how music can help people of all ages to communicate, regulate emotions and build confidence in ways that feel safe. Whether it’s through rhythm, song, or simply being heard. Music creates space for each individual to be themselves.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing more about what music therapy looks like, the impact it can have, and the people at the heart of it all.

In today's clip - see Senior Music Therapist Alex & Music Therapist Aki discuss their experiences as therapists and the people they support.

If you’ve experienced music therapy with us, we’d love to hear from you 💬🎶

Follow along, share your stories, or get in touch to learn more about how we can support you.

Music can meet you exactly where you are 👩‍🦰

Whether you need to release energy, find calm, or make sense of how you’re feeling, there’s no one “right” way to use it.

It might look like:
🎶 moving your body to a favourite song
🎶 taking a quiet moment with calming sounds
🎶 singing along at the top of your lungs
🎶 creating something that reflects how you feel

Small moments with music can make a big difference to our wellbeing.

What’s your go-to way to use music to support your mood?

If you’d like to explore this more, we’re here to help. Get in touch or drop us a message 💬

A gentle reminder to pause. ⏸️

In this clip, our Community Musician Saskia shares a simple breathing exercise she's utilised in her online music sessions. 🎶

Breathing like this can help regulate the nervous system, easing feelings of stress or overwhelm and supporting a sense of calm. 😌

It doesn’t need to take long. Take a moment to check in, slow things down & breathe. 🍃

You can come back to this anytime you need. 🥰

Today is Social Prescribing Day 🤗🌟

Social prescribing is about looking beyond medical needs and recognising the whole person. It connects individuals to community-based support that can improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and create meaningful change in everyday life.

At Ace Music Therapy, we see first-hand the impact this can have. Through music, we support people of all ages to build confidence, express themselves and feel more connected. 🎶

We are so grateful to the community connectors, healthcare professionals, educators and community navigators who champion social prescribing and who trust us to be part of someone’s journey. Your belief in creative, person-centred support makes all the difference. ❤️

Together, we are creating pathways to wellbeing that are accessible, inclusive and human.🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Today marked the conclusion of our wonderful FREE Beat Retreat carers drumming sessions at Bubus Cafe in Chelmsford. Run by our fantastic team members Cherry (Music Therapist) & Becky (Community Musician) we have met some remarkable people and enjoyed our weeks drumming together! 🪘🎶

Thank you to Essex County Council for funding our Beat Retreat Carers Groups 🤗

We received the below feedback recently from this group that we'd like to share:

“Appreciated the opportunity to be able to connect with themselves. Being a carer for someone is difficult and it’s an opportunity to meet other people who understand. It is clear to see the support the carers are offering to each other, as well as the session leaders. The cafe setting is ideal to further foster those relationships, as the carers often stay for a drink afterwards, due to the space being opened up during the session and making everyone feel comfortable. They feel uplifted and in good spirits at the end of the session. Carers are able to switch off. Mental health hits people differently and the space you create supports them."

We are immensely proud of this group & the impact it has on attendees - watch this space for the next block of sessions! 👀😍

Today is International Day of Happiness 🌍

This year’s theme invites us to reflect on social media and happiness. While being online can sometimes feel overwhelming, it can also be a space for connection, support and positivity when used with care.

At Ace Music Therapy CIC, we are intentional about what we share. Our aim is always to add something meaningful to your day, whether that is:

🎶 Good news stories that celebrate progress and joy
🎶 Case studies that show the impact of music therapy
🎶 Wellbeing tips you can try in your own time
🎶 Advertising our free community music groups that bring people together

We believe small, thoughtful actions online can make a real difference. A kind comment, a shared resource, a moment of encouragement, it all matters.

Together, we can create a space that supports wellbeing not just today, but every day 🥰

It's Neurodiversity Celebration Week and we’re celebrating the brilliant, unique ways people experience and interact with the world, especially the neurodivergent community we’re proud to support every day.

ACE Music Therapy CIC was created from a passion to build spaces where neurodivergent individuals feel understood, valued, and free to express themselves without judgement. Spaces where communication does not have to look one way. Where connection can grow through rhythm, sound, movement, and shared moments.

In this clip, our Founder and CEO, Senior Music Therapist Amelia, shares how ACE began and why this work matters so deeply.

We see the strengths, the creativity, the individuality, and we meet every person exactly where they are.

Amelia was delighted to be invited to speak at her old school Bromley High School Bromley High School GDST as part of their International Women's Day Series themed 'Rights. Justice. Action.' Amelia shared her career journey and how music therapy can transform lives. It was great to be back and advocating for the music therapy profession.

Today is Young Carers Action Day - a day to raise awareness of young carers.

We want to highlight to amazing work Becky and Cherry are doing within schools as part of the Carers Fund from Essex County Council. They go into schools across Essex to offer a music therapy session that is centered around drumming to enable young carers to express how they are feeling.

Some feedback we have had from a teacher;

"The African drumming workshop has been really good[...] They’ve done improvisation and also learned some songs, it was great seeing them learn how to drum. I’ve seen a huge difference with some of the kids, in the last session they were all talking to each other about different things going on in their lives. One pupil who is normally very quiet was telling the others about her recent trip [...] We’ve never heard her open up that much before. Another boy has come every week and has told me how much he enjoyed it."
