To the daycare owners and operators out there who are on CWELCC: we see you and we feel you. 😔 😣 🫠

Let me remind you that Appleseed works alongside you to let you continue the extra-curriculars that you've likely had to leave behind because of budget restrictions.

We know this program has rocked your world. We know the intentions were good. But like you, we want affordable care NOT at the expense of teachers who are under resourced and drained of their passion and love of teaching. And NOT at the expense of the kids - they are the ones getting the short end of the stick.

You can still have yoga and other fun extra-curriculars in your school. Here's how we do it at Appleseed:
1) Together we determine a 6 or 8-week series with days and times that fit your schedule.
2) We outline our program details in a doc that you send to the parents for them to opt-in or out.
3) We take payment via e-transfer directly from the parents so no money moves through the daycare at all.

And the best part is that you still get the same great programming, great teachers, and benefits of yoga in the classroom!

All for the kids,
Megan

Pain is all around us right now, and yoga has taught me so much about pain: the different types of pain, how to work through it by breathing into it, and how it’s not to be avoided. It’s not natural for us to want to experience pain, and for the parents reading this, we often never want to let our kids feel pain.

Right now in our family there’s pain when people don’t acknowledge my oldest’s chosen pronouns. There’s pain in the truths that are coming to light in relationships around me, there’s pain in the earth dying, the loss of my kids being young. There’s pain all around, and if I ever was trying to avoid it, it’s now absolutely unavoidable.

This pain has quite literally forced me to finally sit down with my feelings, and I can not think of anything worse than sitting with my feelings. It’s uncomfortable as hell. But there has been a small but profound shift happening as I do this.

Feeling pain is tolerable, in small doses. Avoiding the pain makes it more painful. When I feel my pain, it has somewhere to go, it changes. I believe pain can be a catalyst for transformation. Pain can allow us to learn, grow and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and others, which expands our capacity for love. Feeling my own pain and letting others in on my pain is the greatest road to deep and profound intimacy. Feeling my pain actually lets my pain transform into love.

And so I don’t want my kids to avoid their pain. I don’t want to react to them to avoid my own pain. I want to feel it and I want them to feel it so it can shift and change and be transformed into love.

This also applies collectively: I don’t want anyone’s kid to avoid pain. This is why I do the work I do. This is why I teach yoga to kids - to give them a real life way to experience all the pain life brings them and to turn it into love.

If you agree with me in this, Appleseed is running our next Kids Yoga Teacher Training this coming September and our early bird registration starts next week. If you want in, stay tuned here for more details over the coming days.

For the transformation of our pain,
Megan

🌟✨✨ Dear Appleseed Community - it is my joy and pleasure to introduce to you our newest teacher to the team, ANDY!!! ✨✨🌟

Join me in welcoming Andy Lever (she/her, ) to the Appleseed Team, she is a recent KYTT grad and stellar human and kids yoga teacher. 🥳

It was a no-brainer for me to hire Andy upon completion of the KYTT - as an elementary school teacher and yogi, she just *gets* kids. She is playful, courageous, unbelievably kind, and really lives out the yoga in her life. She has recently taken in a big step in her career to focus more exclusively on kids yoga, and I'm so honoured she chose to do that with us! 🫰

A little more about Andy:
With over 12 years of experience as an elementary school teacher, Andy has always loved helping children tap into their creativity, curiosity, and authenticity, all while connecting with her own inner child. Inspired by her own yoga journey, Andy is dedicated to helping children discover their unique voice, move with joy, and connect with themselves and others. She believes in creating a space where kids can feel safe, respected, and confident, all while cultivating a sense of peace that stays with them long after class.

Andy will be observing some classes and subbing over the next couple months, so please welcome her when you see her! Your kids will LOVE her.

Love,
Megan

Hey all - Welcome to Appleseed, I'm Megan and I’m so happy you’re here and with me in this journey of bringing yoga to children. If you’re new here, Appleseed is a Toronto-based kids yoga business led by me! We are a team of 12 kids yoga teachers in Southern Ontario that go into schools, libraries and other spaces to teach yoga to kids. We also run a kids yoga teacher training each fall which is 100 hours and focused on justice and equity.

My intention for this space is to:
☆ Educate people on what kids yoga actually is (it’s not just pretending to be animals!)
☆ Provide kids yoga teachers with content and inspiration for their classes
☆ Bring awareness to justice-related issues surrounding kids and what we can do to make change for them
☆ Share the happenings of Appleseed, ie: upcoming classes, trainings, events.
☆ Give you a personal look at myself as an educator, entrepreneur, and parent, making my way through life

I’m so happy you’re here. Leave a wave in the comments below to say hi!

xx M

Spring Family Yoga dates are confirmed - grab your spot ASAP as these will fill up! (I haven't decided if we'll hold a class in May yet, so this might be it for public classes until the fall. 😮)

I can't wait to lead your family in movement, breath, connection, and ultimately a returning to your truest selves. It's EXACTLY what we all need right now.

Here in it with you,

Hiiiiiiiiiii

This Tuesday (Jan 21st) my book is finally being released in Canada and the UK, annnnnd re-issued in the States! I'm so excited I could puke.

I know life is wild in allllll the ways, but you should buy it. I'm not kidding, it will help. But only if you want to.

In fact, in order to show you how good it is, I'm going to post a reading of it to my feed on Tuesday in celebration! 😀

Okay, don't forget to make your art today people, it's the best way to come back to yourself in all this hullabaloo.

Love,
M

Our Story

At Appleseed, we provide busy parents with holistic and nurturing yoga classes for their kids that will help them grow up healthy and balanced.

Megan’s Story:

In 2013, after working for 5 years in the financial services industry, I was stressed, tired, and uninspired.

By then, my husband and I’d been trying to start a family for 2 years. I decided to take a step of faith and reconstruct my life. I quit my job and stripped away all that didn't matter to embark upon a life of truth, love, and all-consuming faith. My goal was to live out a life of authenticity, where joy and work were one and the same. As a first step, I decided to participate in a 200 hour yoga teacher training which changed my life for the better, forever.
