MR SIA 2026 Stakeholders Appreciation Program Highlights Commitment to Protect Every Child

General Santos City โ The General Santos City Health Office successfully held its Stakeholders Appreciation Program for the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) 2026, bringing together local leaders, health workers, and community stakeholders in a celebration of collaboration and shared responsibility.
Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Lalaine Calonzo, RMT, CFP โ City Health Officer, who shared a powerful message: โWe chose to rise. We chose to show up.โ This inspiring statement resonated deeply with every health worker and public servant, reflecting their dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to service.
The program highlighted the collective efforts behind the cityโs immunization campaign, emphasizing that public health success is built on partnership. Dr. Roland Jay Basmillo, NIP Medical Coordinator, proudly reported that General Santos City achieved 91.72% coverage, with 63,503 eligible children vaccinated. This milestone represents not just an achievement, but a profound commitment to service and the protection of every child.
City leadership reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening immunization efforts and sustaining the momentum gained during the campaign. Messages of support and appreciation from provincial and regional health officials underscored the importance of unified action in safeguarding children against measles and rubella.
A highlight of the event was the presence of Hon. Mayor Lorelie G. Pacquiao, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all barangays for their tireless efforts. She recognized the dedication of local leaders and health workers, emphasizing that the success of the campaign is a shared triumph of the entire community.
Outstanding Rural Health Units and barangays were acknowledged for their vital roles in implementation. All barangays demonstrated exemplary achievement, with notable performance from Barangays Baluan, San Isidro, North, South, San Jose, Labangal, Siguel, Buayan West, Olympog, Upper Labay, and East, each achieving 95% or higher vaccination coverage. Testimonials from selected barangays highlighted that, regardless of size, every barangayโs efforts truly mattered and made a real difference in protecting children.
Partners from various sectors, including the CDC, were recognized for their invaluable technical and operational support throughout the MR SIA rollout.
Closing remarks were delivered by Mr. Arvy Ace Buensuceso, Executive Assistant for Health, who reflected on the experiences and lessons learned during the MR SIA 2026 implementation, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and shared responsibility in public health initiatives.
