When the Lord calls you to do something you are totally uncomfortable with? What is your response?

God said go this way, and Jonah promptly bought a ticket in the opposite direction.

It may not be as blatant or overt, but have you ever found yourself going in the opposite direction?

God has pointed out some of those areas to me lately.

What is the purpose of prayer?

In week two of our series Habits of Grace (based on the book by David Mathis) we focus on prayer.

The author writes “..we must see his listening to us in prayer in relationship to our listening to him in his word.”

We understand God’s will by being in his word - reading, studying, meditating on, memorizing…

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

The mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

This really stuck out to me compared to the memory verses we learned as a child. Memorize scripture for today. Relevant. Powerful words of God.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
