We are constantly changing and evolving.
When I began to lean into working with my body, instead of fighting with it head on, I felt relief.

Giving our bodies a chance to recover, as learning to prioritize recovery will be apart of every season.
Remaining a constant theme throughout our training journey and remembering to recover as hard as we train.

Knowing that seasons through motherhood may feel challenging AF - but also knowing that my best AH HAH moments cane from the early chapters. Those moments that I can now reflect on, and put forth into my current training.
How to adjust, when to push, when to scale back, what to listen for, what “too” much feels like and the relief of knowing that these components will assist in achieving life long training OVER pushing as hard as possible even when my body is asking for less.

A relief in the realization that training can look messy, imperfect, shorter, and/or less intense and it still counts! It ALL counts!

A sincere reminder that your body is good, it’s good now and always, it’s strong, it’s capable and learning to listen and work alongside your body will be one of the biggest keys to consistency and longevity. 💪💕

Last week brought the loss of a dear part of our family and a weekend in the mountains felt like a time to heal.

It was a double peak kind of weekend with some strong women. A huge thank you again to .paulson for guiding us through some tough (mostly mentally) climbs!

Reflection naturally filters in when I arrive home. I am proud of myself for doing hard s**t and have the support of these women around me. Pushing the limits physically and mentally!

I had so many preconceived notions about fitness when I became a mother.
One of them I became convinced of would become my reality…my body wouldn’t be the same post Partum.

I was right, but not in the way I could’ve ever imagined. My body wasn’t the same. It was so much more than just an aesthetic vessel. It gave fu***ng birth and it is capable of so much at ALL stages. Your journey isn’t over once you enter into motherhood. It has only begun.

My mindset began to shift slowly (it has been over a decade). I began to believe my body was capable of so much more than my limiting beliefs. I became more resilient and gritty.
There doesn’t need to be an end to your athleticism - but it can absolutely be your beginning. Age and stage of life need not be a limit. You are limitless.

I recently ran 8 km.
I haven’t developed a passion for running. I haven’t found that euphoria. That runners high. BUT what I enjoy is the grind. The resiliency that is built by doing something hard. To prove to myself that if you work at something, you have the ability to improve, and are capable of so much. That the only limit is myself. And I need to get out of my way. I am post Partum and capable of so much.

Remember, this is your journey, you are powerful and to do things that bring you joy! Start back at the sport you loved OR try a new one (the running/lifting community are amazing)!

Feedback + Freedom in Fitness

This stage of my training journey has guided me to lean into “how” the exercise is performed over the “what” the exercise is.

We’ve become entrenched in messaging that demonizes particular movements through different stages of training through our lives.
Safe, best or right are relative to the individual - not the movement itself.

The “how” entangles me in the best way to adjust movements based what works best for my body instead of insisting it stays within the confines of “the box” of right or wrong (yes I still believe form is important).

Stepping out of the “box” feels uncomfortable as hell, but removing the “rules” feels freeing. Freedom to explore within our body’s limits is f**king magic!

Exploring within your own body, and use strategies and feedback, instead of rigid rules.

I continue to challenge myself to dispel the “right and wrong” narrative and .
What does this mean to me? It means choosing the different that makes a difference. If I am unable to lunge without pain - I am going to explore within different strategies, test and retest and choose the best way for my body!

How can I challenge beliefs?
I ask myself….

- What if something we are told is the “wrong” way actually works?

- What does it look like if we challenged our reasoning for what is “best” or “right”?

- What if best and right we’re stopping us from moving in the direction of freedom within movement? Or stopping us from not experiencing pain?

A huge thank you to for sharing these concepts with me, and always challenging me to think about things differently.

Entering into motherhood doesn’t mean your athleticism is over - it may just look different for now.

To be honest - in the beginning I met this sentiment head on.

But through trials of these seasons - I have learned that -

I am strong but not invincible.

We can manage and adapt by shifting our expectations, and meeting ourselves where we are at…healing, nursing/feeding, sleep deprivation, and parenting infants & toddlers can all effect our energy, effort, + time dedicated to training and recovery.
Training through different seasons should look different.

We can manage by adjusting our mindset. Knowing that done is better then perfect and it is OKAY to slow down.

Allowing our bodies time ⏰. Time to heal, time to rebuild and progress in a way that honors our whole self (mentally and physically). We move forwards, and evolve.

Seasons are temporary.
Focus your training in a way compliments your life and needs at this moment.

We won’t always have to stop, pause or break up our workouts forever.
It’s not forever, just for now -

Yes it can feel frustrating as hell.
But know that in order to play the long game in longevity of athleticism - we need to adjust.

The more seasons I go through, the more I realize that these sentiments don’t apply solely to motherhood.
But life itself.

Never forget that you are strong + capable.
