After my bout with both breast and thyroid cancer in 2003, I decided to do an about face and change my lifestyle and my diet. Hence, MY wholesome life was born and I've decided to spread the good news regarding health and nutrition with my web blog entitled The Wholesome Life. Also since then, I've gone from being a city girl to being a country girl/farmer. What a transition that was and sometimes

still is...LOL I started the blog last year and have become more and more committed to it. For those of you who are new to real foods, here is a list of what REAL food should be:
1. Humanely raised (animals raised on pasture, not in factory farms)
3. Whole and unrefined (real maple syrup instead of high-fructose corn syrup)
5. Processed as little as possible (raw milk instead of pasteurized and homogenized)
6. Nutrient-dense (enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and probiotics)
7. Free of additives and preservatives
8. Free of synthetic and chemical ingredients
9. Not genetically modified
10. Traditionally produced and prepared

These “foods” now make up 60% of the American diet.

And they are the single biggest driver of chronic disease, disability, and death worldwide.

Yes, all food is technically processed - washing, freezing, and chopping are forms of processing. But that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about ultra-processed foods: products designed by Big Food, made from refined starches, industrial seed oils, added sugars, and additives that hijack your biology.

These compounds disrupt metabolism, damage the gut microbiome, inflame the brain, impair immune function, and drive hormonal chaos. They fuel obesity, diabetes, fatty liver, cancer, autoimmune disease, and cardiovascular disease, which now kill 11 million people per year due to poor diet alone.

Meanwhile, we’re not growing or eating enough real food. The average person doesn’t even get the minimum five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Let’s get back to real food.
Food that comes from a farm, not a factory.
Food that heals, not harms.

Because food is medicine, or it’s poison.
