I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my last day at My Place then with a recital! The kids have been working hard since January to get ready for the recital and I am so proud of them!
I am grateful to the MN State Arts board for the grant I was awarded that provided me the opportunity to work with the kids and staff at My Place over the last year and a half! I sure am going to miss everyone!

What a wonderful opportunity it has been to partner with MyPlace over the last year and a half.
This was made possible by the Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
Through this grant, the kids at MyPlace have enjoyed weekly music therapy sessions where they have engaged in music making, song writing, explored new instruments, and coming up soon will participate in their first recital! It has been such a joy to get to know the kids and the staff at MyPlace!

It is Music Therapy Week, and we're celebrating our wonderful music therapist Marissa Humburg!

Marissa shared that in music therapy, there are similarities to practices like occupational therapy with clear goals and objectives but using music as the medium. Through music, she gives students the opportunity to explore creativity, to communicate, to learn respect for a friend's taste in music, and to be empowered by hearing their own voice sing a song they have heard on the radio!

I am excited to be once again partnering with the Surf Ballroom Music Enrichment Center! Please help spread the word so families can take advantage of this FREE opportunity!

🎼We are SO excited to welcome Marissa Humburg of Southern Minnesota Music Therapy, LLC back to the Music Enrichment Center this summer!
🎼Marissa will be visiting the Music Enrichment Center on Mondays from 9am-3pm June 5th-August 21st!
🎼Thanks to a grant from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, and National Endowment for the Arts, 100% of therapy fees are covered, this service is FREE of charge!
🎼Music Therapy provides children and adults a fun, therapeutic way to achieve cognitive, emotional, social and physical goals.
🎼A group session for children 12 and under will take place from 2:00-2:45pm.
🎼1:1 services are available for any age.
