This is the medication that I’ve take every day for the last 14 years, for depression and anxiety.
(10 years before that, I took other meds for the same thing. And before that, I tried ALL the natural ways to heal, until I couldn’t function any longer.)
➡️ The medication ONLY works when I work WITH it!
That means I make the effort to get in my:
✅Pilates sessions,
✅sunshine,
✅cardio,
✅positive relationships,
✅meditative time (usually tending to plants or walking).
I also take an Omega blend and multivitamin daily. (Omegas are a POWERFUL antidepressant)
Making sure I’m eating well -for what is right for MY body, is also pivotal) My body loves steak.)
I don’t mention the struggle I have with depression and anxiety very often because of the judgement that people can’t help but make.
🔹BUT as a perinatal educator, and understanding the MAJOR epidemic we have of postpartum depression,
and su***de being the LEADING cause of death for mothers within the first year of having a child,
I thought sharing what I have gone through might help others to:
1. Help themselves
And
2. Reach out and help others who are struggling.
I had severe depression to the point that I could not get off of my meds during pregnancy, and ended up not being able to breastfeed because of the meds I was on.
My son is 9 years old now and perfectly healthy!
I THINK we are getting better at NOT stigmatizing mood disorders.
🔹But as a Pilates teacher working with perinatal women, you MUSt understand the silent suffering that so many women go through.
🔹 And if YOU have been struggling with debilitating anxiety and depression for 2 weeks or more, PLEASE get help.
